Just picked this one up…random question has anyone attempted to send in a PLD for some changes that your weren’t the original owner of? Debating about adding in a top line but curious how that would work.

I suspect it should be no problem. You could either fill out a club repair request from their customer service page, or call and say you want a mod from the WRX department.

I have them working on modifying my previously fit PLD Kushin. Based on the amount of changes they are making, just a top line on yours would be child’s play. There are very few things they can’t modify on a PLD putter. Those things might include changing to a finish that doesn’t belong on the existing material (stainless vs carbon), or adding tungsten weights to a model that doesn’t have enough real estate, etc.

I am going to reach out tomorrow and report back. Just not sure if they will want to deal with someone who is not the original owner. In general PING is great to work with so hopefully can do something.

As long as you give them the serial number they can tell you what’s possible. I don’t know for sure,  but I imagine they don’t give a rip (in the nicest way possible) if someone is the original purchaser.

Just got an update from Colton - putter is milled - I was told and had the option to be the first PLD Customer to get the new PLD graphics in the back and Ping on the face- I chose to do so. Should be ready soon with the Patina finish being done on site.

The old Ping Logo was my favorite as a kid, I had a couple of hats with the logo so I wanted to incorporate it- I played Ping irons being local to AZ as I had a connection to get fit on site and so it's always been a favorite of mine.

That looks incredible congrats. What’s the 5 on the very toe for?

Here is the before and after for my PLD Kushin.  It was a little over a year ago I did my virtual fitting.  The intent was to do in person, but schedules changed and had to do the virtual instead.  A few weeks ago I went to PING in person to either get a new putter, or modify the Kushin based on what we found.  I just never got comfortable in person with the Kushin, which is why I signed up for the secondary in person fitting.

Before - ~350g headweight, H neck, top line alignment line, 34".  I ended up sending it back to change from H neck to double bend.  SuperStroke 1.0 grip.  Photos show the H neck.

IMG_2994.jpeg.da0d70ce844458da3a82b7238144184a.jpeg

After - 365g headweight (we found I am way more comfortable with my release and shaft lean with a heavier head), 35", went with Satin finish because it seemed to stand out better to me with a green grass background.  PP58 pistol grip.  Tungsten slugs in heel and toe.  Added ball width perpendicular line to top line.  I do much better with perpendicular lines than I do parallel.  The only problem was that they couldn't get this line to the very front of the top rail, so you can see just a sliver of the original lineup line extend to the front.  Putting inside so far definitely feels more solid because of the heavier weight in combo with the fact that the tungsten slugs sit on either side of ball contact.  We'll see what happens on the course!

Glad you got it right in the end. It is a bit crazy to me that such an expensive fitting and final product doesn't always turn out.  I think this program or any other premium program would best be done in person

Awesome putter.  Wonder if they would do actual stamping with "Karsten" and zip code on there.  Would be cool.

No stamping, no welding.

Can get that engraved on the sole not cavity.

First follow up to my previous post where I got the modified Kushin back in my hands.  Overall very pleased with it.  Played 18 on a brand new course to me yesterday where the greens were pretty fast (Crossings at Carlsbad for anyone interested).  I had 36 putts by the stats, but I honestly felt like I putted very well compared to my norm.  I'd say I average 36 putts.  Some days is 34, some days is 37-38.

My speed control was very good, and the roll that the putter put on the ball was super solid.  Honestly the roll on the ball reminded me of putts with a LAB Mezz.1 Max I had for a few weeks last year.  End over end and held the line wonderfully.  Contact felt great.  WAY more comfortable to me than the lighter weight Kushin.  I did have a few 3-putts yesterday, but those came on very undulated, multi-tier greens where I truly just made a bad first putt and left myself more than 8 feet left.  Several of those second putts I was pleased with and they had a chance to go in but just burned the edge.

I also made a putt from the fringe so I did have a hole with 0 putts lol.  Plus made a nice 15 footer.  That is a positive because I don't often see many makes from outside 6 feet.  Other than the few where I just lost focus on the 60+ footers, the lag putting was excellent.

Overall I'm very happy with the new mods to the PLD.  Here's to hoping I get even more confidence with it.

The passive brag is strong on this one lol

im pretty sure I have hosel rocket scars on mine.

I guess it was (unintentionally) a humble brag but that wasn't my reason for posting it. To me, the most interesting thing about the patina finish is how it wears and ages -- it's a living, breathing object that is always changing. Mine has battle scars, usage wear/tear, oxidation, darker and lighter spots, it looks different seemingly every time I pull the headcover off of it, and I LOVE that. Lots of people ask for "aging" photos of the patina finish in this thread too and my Anser is about 2 years old now. PING really knocked it out of the park with carbon patina. The old girl is aging like a Bordeaux grape.
