Tiger New Long Iron/Driving Iron?

Looks to have a speed slot at the bottom, maybe P770? Also a different DG shaft with an actual label on it. Interesting

That's definitely the new(er) DG Mid shaft.  I'd guess P790 clubhead.

My guess is it's a 790 udi or that new 770 2i that's showed up. Also looks to be the new DG Mid I think it's called.

My guess is 790 UDI. Says 2 on the sole. Regular 790 and 770 don't come in a 2 but who knows? I'm sure TM would make him a 2 in either if he wanted.

Taylormade makes a 770 2i for the tour, J Day and Ryan Ruffles have had one in their bags recently.

I remember he had a 2 iron in the bag when he first started on tour. Took a while for him to embrace the 5 wood. He used to absolutely blister that 2 iron -- back when they were just butterknives. I remember on one par 5 at his first tournament, the Greater Milwaukee open, he hit a 300 yard 2 iron and then another mid/long iron to the green.

I'm really interested in that mid-launch DG shaft.  I'm realizing that I really love the feel of my DG s400 irons, but as I've gotten older, there are some days where I have to work a little harder to launch the longer clubs.  This shaft sounds like something I would want to try.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the tour only P770 2-iron as mentioned with the slightly softer shaft. Before Tiger gave up on driving irons for awhile and stuck with the 5w he was experimenting with all sorts of stuff. UDI then GAPR, then back to UDI. Project X PXi shaft, then custom Tensei hybrids, then Project X Rifle, back to Dynamic Gold X100 etc etc. Cool to see him toying with it again, I thought it would shelved due to decreased speed.

Nice find. I'd long wondered if/when TW would drop the bladed 3i since there are so many options with so much more utility while also not sacrificing the 5w which he seems to love. I feel dumb for not having thought this is what that would be. Curious about the shaft now too.

Going to a “players” 3 iron now he has more physical limitations is sensible. I wonder whether he’ll also eventually relent on the lofts of the rest of his irons and move to the stock lofts rather than the weaker versions he’s always played.
