Thoughts on black steel iron shafts

Being offered great deal on a set of irons with a shaft I like,  but the shafts are black nickel. Never been a fan on non-graphite shafts being anything but chrome. Idk maybe I just don't like the look of them looking more like a graphite shafted iron which I don't use, also my wedges are chrome and I don't want to replace them, so there'd be an odd kind of mismatch. What should I do?

Buy em. Didn't think I would ever like a dark shaft in a driver after playing a Aldila Phenom shaft for years. The Ventus Blue shaft rocks.

If they're nice irons, get over your OCD and buy them. You won't care about the mismatched shafts if you're striping the ball with them.

I bet you’ll be OK. I’m excited for the black shafts in my vokeys…

I don't like non-chrome shafts in my irons / wedges, so I could never play clubs that had something else. Then again, I also have the exact same grip on all 13 of my clubs. The last thing I want to be thinking about at address is how this shaft or this grip doesn't match the rest of my clubs.

You'd hate my grips then!!  I let my daughter decide what color went on each club - all the same type - just all different colors.  Didnt realize Golf Pride that many options in the MCC - HA.

I love them, wish i could get them in all my clubs.

 

Could be just me, but i had a black x100 in a vokey with the rest of my clubs chrome and it never bothered me. color of the shaft is the last thing im thinking about while addressing the ball

Used chrome forever, decided to try a set of blackouts in my vokeys. Turned out well in appearance for my eyes, and finally swapped a full set into my irons. I think I will have a hard time going back just because I find them more appealing. I also think they can cut down on some glares with sun. With that being said, if I were to play with a chrome set again, it wouldn’t bother me one bit.

The colour won't affect the performance. Stick them in the bag.

Pulled the trigger and got them. What got me over the hump was thinking about the black look in combination with the head, Titleist t200 irons (2021). They really look like a natural together. No plans to swap out my chrome wedge shafts (which I love), I'll just do the reverse commute and go black shafted irons and chrome shafted wedges. (not to mention orange shafted utility iron 😆)

Just a different look is all. I had a set and after a while, they start to have a tarnished look. Depends on if you are okay with that happening or not. If you don’t mind, then go for it. If you will mind, then stay away.

Love the black iron shafts. Have a set of the black AMT whites in 2 sets of clubs (cobra forged tec and takomo 201). I'm actually at the point that if the shaft doesn't have a black option I can't even bring myself to try it. Same way with putters.
