That was a re-release with nostalgia in the TW fanboy section.

 

I'll give another shoe credit - the white TW20 - but not because of Tiger specifically, but because other players ON TOUR wear it as well keeping it alive. The black model just sits on the shelf.

I’ve got a pair of these and so far they have been great in the boggy wet and cold conditions we’ve got here in the UK

 

I never really gave any of the NXT’s a go in summer but these are super comfortable and I’ve got bone dry feet at the end of the round!

 

Really easy to keep clean too if that’s your thing as they can be brushed with soapy water without staining the material like white ones

It's just ridiculous at this point... and that's coming from someone that has way too many golf shoes and buys some pretty out there designs at times too.

Want to make Jordan 6 golf shoes? Google Top 10 Jordan 6 colorways.  Make those.  Collect money.  Done.

They've hit two of them with what, 6 releases through Nike? - White/Infrared and Olympic.

It's also infuriating that we're getting 1000 colorways of the worst Jordan golf shoes (heavy af 5s and 6s, flat and unsupportive 1s) but only a few of the ones that are actually good to play in.

 

Outside of my Next% all my shoes are adidas this season.

I actually like this iteration of the 1's but agreed on the rest of the line - with those flat soles and heavy design the other retros are fashion over function for golf.  I have most of them but I only wear them casually in a cart.  For most of our rounds walking I just can't do it.

Apologies if this has been discussed, however, I can’t reread the entire post

 

For those who have the Airmax1 OG 86 shoes, do they break-in and loosen up? Asking bc I am in between sizes, the smaller of the two is tight and firm yet if they soften I think they’d fit great. The larger pair fits good but afraid if they break in/soften they’ll be too loose.

I find that hard to believe. People wear the polos in the office and the shorts casually summer in the mall… would seem like a major revenue loss?

I think the majority thought is that Nike is NOT done with golf, just that Tiger does not move the needle enough to justify the $$ and he is not happy they can't provide suitable product for their named brand.. Nike golf continues with Rory, Scottie, Nelly, etc, but TW is now wearing TM made by ______________.

They don't break in a ton in my experience but will some. If it is really close the smaller size should loosen up enough. Order them, try for 60 days and return if they don't get to the point you'd like.

Jordan is also leaving green grass stores so I find it hard to believe Nike is shifting their bucket into a more Jordan centric golf brand. I think they just realize there's been a shift away from athletic apparel in golf and they don't want to compete with the Peter Millar's, and Greyson's of the world.  Also their designs are kinda garbage anyway. Tiger still moves the needle so that argument isn't valid it's just the investment in new stuff isn't there for Nike.

Designs are truly terrible. Somehow every week Tony Finau, Rory, etc. Are dressed like clowns. It is shocking. 

 

I could see Tiger wearing FJ. Classic brand, already has the shoes and they have $. Thinking of a TW FJ Premiere release. Take my money.

Can't say I'm surprised Nike doesn't want to really stay in the market. For as much as it's grown in the last few years it's still a fraction of basketball or soccer worldwide. Plus their highest paid sponsored athlete plays like 5 times a year max and one of their other highly paid guys is on a tour (Brooks/LIV) that doesn't get any viewership. Nike is really only getting bang for their buck from Rory these days. Hard to sustain those kinds of sponsorship deals when there are so many other competitors in the market. With basketball and soccer they are pretty much the two biggest players worldwide. With golf they are just another player. Nike always wants to be a hip innovator, golf is never going to be that kind of sport. It kind of worked when they had an iconic athlete like Tiger to brand themselves with, but now that his starts are few and far between and he's no longer the young, dominating Tiger of 20 years ago the golf market probably looks A LOT less appealing to Nike

Not being run by Cleveland/Srixon but the company that manages Cleveland/Srixon in North America. I believe they are called Mint Green Group. But at the end of the day Nike couldn't care less about golf.

So... the current understanding

• Nike proper will still design the apparel and shoes?
• Srixon will distribute it and try get to all their tour guys in Srixon / Cleveland / Nike set ups?
• As contracts expire, we expect non- Cleveland golfers to exit the swoosh ala Rory, Shef, Tommy lad, etc?
• Taylormade has something up their sleeve for apparel in parallel?
• Via Srixon, Nike might have more penetration back into the Country Club pro shop?

Out of curiosity, what brands of golf shirts or clothing do you typically wear?

Big Nike / sneaker guy here. Seems like Nike has always been about doing things differently and I wouldn't ever expect the to make golf attire that competes with Peter Millar or FJ? I understand that's what sells, but that is not Nike's DNA.

Although I find most of Nike's golf shirts ugly, I understand they are trying to appeal to younger or more street wear oriented consumer and not the guys at private clubs or who look for a nice holderness shirt.
