Once again I know it seems like I’m just trying to swim up-stream here. But the crowns on these just look so cheap to me, especially the fairway woods

i’m here with you. I’ve dropped out of the hoing space for 6-8 months, so this is my first look. I totally agree. It just looks like it’s gunna crack at that massive, ugly seam.

Another "yes" vote for the fairways here.  Might finally kick my Epic out of the bag.

That fairway pic angle has me all like "oof". Rogue st ls was better looking based on that angle.

I agree.  Looks closed off.  But then again he is cut all day long so maybe that's the idea.

I would hook and hood the crap out of these.

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

Golf is what you make of it.  Play grateful and accepting. We are all lucky to have it.

Rather than expecting lets all try and appreciate instead.

Head shape on the fairways is good but not a fan of the big face progression of the lead edge. I don’t prefer that look

393 yards with his driver on the last hole, for the longest drive of anyone during the first round. Good distance with the new driver.

Interested to see if he'll stick with the triple diamond head or move to the regular model? Not a solid driving day for him and some of them looked pretty squirrelly. He definitely piped one on the last but that hole is a lot about catching that perfect line for the roll out.

I think Rahm was a big proponent of not having a chevron on the top of the triple diamond head, so I can't picture him switching to a driver head that has one. I'd think he'd be more likely to tinker with the weights, but unlike a Mcilroy he's not analytical and wanting to know everything every thing about how his equipment works...so I don't know that I picture him doing that either...

I believe the standard weights for the TD are 14g in the front and 2g in the back. Interesting to see Rahm with 5g front and 10g back, perhaps looking to add a bit more spin?

There is no standard for the 14+2g config, its just two weights in two spots that can be changed. Id bet clubs on the rack next months have the 14g rear for the extra forgiveness during demos. 14g rear would be the most spin. Rahm's config with 10g rear and 5g front would be less spin than 14g rear and 2g front but more spin than the heavier ones forward.

I saw a Callaway tour van video a while back where someone talked about how the shaft company making Rahm's driver shaft was phasing that model out, so Callaway bought a lifetime supply of that shaft model so that Rahm will always have that for future drivers he said. Rahm apparently isn't a person that likes to experiment with new equipment and try new things, but if he does and moves away from that shaft they are going to be stuck with a lot of them...

For those that haven't already seen it here a video of Rahm getting fit for and testing the Paradym driver.

  • 2 weeks later...

I got excited after seeing the rounded leading edge on the fairway woods here and had a tripple diamond 3w in my hands today. Unfortunately Rahm's 3w is nothing like the one Callaway will sell, it's a completely different thing. The leading edge of the one that will be sold is much less rounded, the face is shallower and it seems the angle that the sole makes with the face is different too. (The consumer version looks a bit closer to a hybrid.)

There is a picture of Jon on Golf Channel swinging a lofted club, maybe a wedge, with a blue shaft in it.

Maybe it's the reflection of the sunlight, but it looks like an old Grafalloy Blue in a wedge!

Anyone know what's going on?
