I ordered a TSr 3 driver from 2nd Swing that was delivered by FedEx. This is the condition of the box when it arrived:

 

I looked further at the box and I’m beginning to think that this wasn’t done during shipping, the edges looked too clean for a shipping mishap. I can’t imagine that 2nd Swing would send it out this way however. The club itself appears to be totally fine. The damage was on the grip end and I haven’t taken a swing with it yet, so ultimately I’ll know when a few balls are struck. What, if anything, should I do?

Did you order a box or did you order a club?

 

If the club is fine, chalk it up to good luck and go play.

 

If the club shatters into a million tiny pieces, you have evidence of shipping damage and can go back to them and ask for a refund or replacement.

I would say swing it and see.  If there is really anything wrong, you will instantly know it.  May even contact 2nd Swing ASAP and let them know what you are going to do.

My 2nd swing boxes don’t come to me that great too but no issue on clubs

I can assure you it didn’t leave 2ndSwing that way.  That is FedEx doing a hack job of retapping it after it was roughed up in transit.

 

As others have said, if the club is fine then no big deal, if not 2ndSwing will make it right.

I've purchased a good bit from 2nd Swing. Enough so to say that I am not a fan of their boxes durability.  Notice how the edges have perforations all the way down the sides. I've received several that have started to separate at the perforations.  Add that to the fact that packages aren't handled with kid gloves during shipping and it's a recipe for disaster. I actually shipped a set of irons in a 2nd Swing box. Box was damaged during transit and one of the irons was lost as a result.

I played yesterday and the club is fine. Got lucky I suppose. One would think better care would be taken during shipping. From a numbers game perspective, I shouldn’t be surprised.

My few second swing purchases in the past year all had perfect boxes on the ends, but the boxes themselves are a bit thinner then others such as Cally CPO in my experience. Have seen some puncture marks or minor tears along, all I would assume from bouncing around shipping trucks and such.

 

I would also venture that is just a hack tape job by a carrier, not 2nd swing. Glad you are off to grip and rip the club 🙂

Their boxes are terrible. I don’t know why they wouldn’t spend 50 cents more and get decent boxes. I’ve had multiple orders from them where I had to take pictures of the box at my front door because it looks so bad and all bent… but knock on wood the clubs have been fine.
