Getting a set of i230s today to put up against my retro-spec'd i210s. We'll see what wins. I'm excited but also nervous to move on from my i210s after 3 years. They've treated me very well.

Part of what I think made the i210 successful for such a broad group of golfers is the progression into longer irons. Them going away from that in favor of a more players look may be more suitable to Tour adoption but fewer mere mortals will be able to game the i230 than i210 IMO.

I'd say its tough to find a "generous" iron design that provides better distance control. That combination feeds confidence.

Given cast longevity, I can't see myself looking at new irons for a long, long time.

Hi, first time post.

I'm on my 3rd year with I210's. I've tried to replace them a couple of times with a variety of sets (Z585's, Z765's, MP20 MB, T100).

I keep coming back to them. The consistency of distance & confidence I have with them is very hard to beat... Although I'll try again in the Spring no doubt.

PING i series iron fan here, and I've had the i210s in my gamer bag for 7 months. Can't imagine playing any other iron set (and I've tried many), except the i200s in my backup bag, which I enjoy nearly as much.

Best irons I've ever had.

I have a minty set of i210's that have only been hit a few times on the range. They are too upright and I am not crazy about the shafts- KBS Tour 90 stiff.

Love how they look and feel compared to my G425's (horrible sound, great performance), just not sure I want to spend the money to make them right. Or just flip them and keep an eye out for a set more to my liking. Those would definitely not be as mint and I would still probably have the lots and lies checked. Off season struggles.

  • 3 months later...

Couple months later and a set of product releases, who's still strongly in the i210?

Bit late to the party, but just picked up a set off the BST from a real nice guy to test against my JPX 921 Tours. I'm hoping the i210s might be pretty magical with my relatively steep AoA. I recently went from a thin sole low bounce lob wedge to a wide sole high bounce and the difference in striking was unbelievable, so I figured I would try out a similar idea in the irons.

Couple real low rounds have come out of the JPX Tours at the end of last season (-7 and -6 on tough courses) so might be a competition

If the i210s win out, my bag will go from never having owned a PING club outside of putters to being mostly PING in about 2 months in the offseason. My foray into the G425 woods was shocking how good and forgiving they are, hoping irons are similar.

I pre-ordered them almost 6 years ago and they're still in the bag.  The consistency is what makes them so great.  Currently thinking about getting the Blueprint S in PW-7 and keeping the 210's in 6-4 iron.  Hope you enjoy!

I've been trying to read all there is in regards to the feel of i210s and am always interested in new, unique perspectives... How would you rate the sound and feel compared to other irons you've played before?

Very good!  Not too hard and not too soft, overall very solid feeling.  For a cast iron there isn't another iron that beats it.

While I was thinking of switching out of my i210s - today I decided after hitting off grass for the first time this year at the local driving range, there was something special about hitting the sweet spot and seeing the trajectory of the ball.  This convinced me that these are still fantastic irons. As I am getting older, I keep hearing about the need for forgiveness and newer iron models are the way to go but the i210s still feel right.

I never felt my mishits were that bad  and when I was fit recently I never was convinced anything was better.  My 7 iron swing speed is in the low to mid 80's and I have MMT105S shafts.  Since the golf season is sill about 5-6 weeks away, I will be testing the MMT80S shafts in the i210s. I did not realize, but the MMT105s swing weight just over D5 - so I will see if i can lower this and maybe pick up some more speed.

So while it is always nice to get something new and shiny - the i210s will be staying in the bag and if I need a fix for a pure forged head, I will take my Bridgestone J15CBs out for game.

Going into my 4th year with mine (6-U), and that's easily my record for length a club stays in the bag. Since I've had them, I really haven't even considered a new set of irons.  Which is a good "problem".

  • 2 weeks later...

After a wandering 1.5 years with Maltby TS1's, TS3's, TS-IM's, TM770, TM790, Mizuno 225's and Ping i230's, I am back to the Ping i210's. It just took me that long to realize that the consistency, accuracy and looks were what I needed the most.

I'm currently looking for a minty back up set, heads only if possible, 6-W,U.

Recently picked up a set of Blueprint S 5-P. Originally thought I may combo with the i210's but after a few range sessions, I'm gonna bag the full set. Not getting rid of the i210's though.

Why did you fully switch? I have 4-7 in i210 and was thinking about doing a combo with the blueprint s in 8-PW

I have the i200s 4-6 (I own the 3 also, but its not in the bag) and i210s 7-Uw.  I would love to replace the 200s with the 210s just for my OCD, but I cant complain about the performance of either iron.
