I did play with this young lady who will be a senior in HS in the fall, she was a very good player and even a better young lady. 

 

 

Just a heads up Big Fish, DMM will need that young ladies digits when she graduates college. 

 

If you haven't played in over a decade you couldn't have expected much. As I think you were, just be grateful for being on the course.

I was too busy prepping for tonight's chat in the Lounge. 😁

I did enjoy some weed this afternoon while playing so I was in the right frame of mind to snag the page. 😀

I am so grateful I found a way to take today off from work and spent it playing my favorite golf course in Asheville. ⚡

Didn’t get the digits, my bad!  Her sister played in the amateur tournament at Augusta twice.  

 

Wasn’t expecting a lot, just thought I would have played a bit better, but it was great to be out there again.

They were good, but still getting used to the lighter weight.  Within 75 yards I was good, but the 3rd hole bit me.  the green is 18 to 20 feet above the fairway and my wedge was pulled, went down the bank, next 2 shots I just didn’t hit well and rolled back to my feet, didn’t make that same mistake a 3rd time!

Playing Snow Mountain out at Paiute tomorrow - my favorite of the bunch - as a "farewell" for a couple weekends while out on the next mini-tour - so rolled over to the range at Aliante for a quick sesh since I didn't get out this past weekend. The turf there is so beat to hell by this late in the day; it's actually a pretty great spot to work on tightening up compression and generally clean strikes. Since you're pretty much hitting off the surface of the moon. 

 

Went through a bucket of 6 and 5 irons; really focused on keeping my takeaway on plane and keeping that extension in my right wrist. 

 

Get those two bits right and damn, it's a pure strike.

15 minutes of warm up on the range, and then 10 minutes rolling them on the practice green and we were off. 

 

When Stan and I teed off at 2:45 there were very few players on the course. We did run into two groups of seniors with push carts on the front and both times they politely let our twosome play through. We experienced a good bit of different weather during the round. To start it was cloudy, breezy, and 85* with 50% humidity. After 5 holes the sun came out and the wind stopped. The temp climbed to 87* and it got steamy until we made the turn. On the back it drizzled for two holes and it got rather windy. We had to drop down the canvas hood on the back of the cart to keep our clubs dry. Then the sun came back out and the wind died once more. It was steamy conditions again for a few holes. For the last 4 holes the clouds returned as did a wonderful breeze. The temperature also dropped to 81*.  We were one of only two groups on back 9 (so cool to be almost the only ones on that fabulous piece of property late in the day 😊).  I had a cooler of ice water and a big towel so I was prepared for the steamy conditions we sometimes experienced. I wiped my entire head off numerous times. But outside of the two stretches of holes where it was and hot and sticky the rest of the round was most comfortable weather wise. What an unexpected bonus that was.

It was again a steady start with three pars out of the gate. Then on 4 the #1 handicap hole I put my approach in the deep bunker front right of the green. I did not save it. One over after 4. On the simple straight ahead par 4 next hole I pushed my drive into the deep stuff by the tree line right. In play yes but my situation was ugly. I had to hack it out of shin deep grass. I butchered the hole and made double. Three over. I got back on the par train and reeled off three in a row. The green on #9 at CCA is know as the dumbest green in town. The pin was way back on a skinny shelf. I hit the middle of the green with my approach shot but putting steeply uphill from 25 feet took me three strokes to find the bottom of the cup. I made the turn with a 4 over 40. 

 

The back 9 was good to me. I hit fairways and greens and two putted for par on the first three holes (par 4's). On #13 I hit an 8 iron to twenty feet and made my first birdie of the day. I made a fine par on the #2 handicap hole number 14.  On 15 I hit my longest drive of the day and only had a 9 iron coming in. I hit my approach to the back of the green. I drained a 30 footer for my second birdie.  On #16 the downhill par 5 I hit a shank with my third shot. Yes a hosel rocket way right it was. 😆  Where the hell did that come from? UGH.  I ended up making a bogey from shankville. I got it back together and finished with two pars. 

 

 +4   40 going out

 -1    34 coming in

 = 74  and one of my best scores at CCA

 

Today I counted on 5 extra yards with my approach clubs and that proved to be the correct math. My swing has improved as has my putting. I have gobs of renewed confidence on the greens with my new Spider. 

 

After 5 shifts I needed a break from work. I was a little tired today, but once I set foot on my favorite golf course I always get a major adrenaline boost. The course was in fantastic condition. The fairways and greens were pure. There were but a handful of golfers out there late in the day with us.

My July 3rd was special. 

Man I needed that golf rush !   🕺🏌️‍♀️😁

Exactly the same for me. I learned about the loss of salt and minerals when I took that course long ago

Going to see "Sound of Freedom" this afternoon. Preparing myself as they say it is a very powerful and true story about child trafficking. It was supposed to come out two years ago but there were some former government officials that tried to stop it from being released. Guess it's sold out in many places all across the country.

A record set back in 1907 was in serious threat on Monday in Phoenix. The high-temperature record set on July 3, 1907, is 117 degrees Fahrenheit. As of 4 p.m. in Phoenix, the peak high for Phoenix was 116 Fahrenheit, only one degree off the record".

I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t even know what this meant, so I looked it up. Watched a Clay Ballard video and it explains a big energy loss in my swing, as I know I flip the club. Now, at least I know how to work on it!

I’d never heard of it. After reading about it, it sounds eye-opening, but brutal.

Was speaking with a buddy the other day that is ex-law enforcement. He said human trafficking is out of control and now one of the predominant crimes that LE deals with. You hear almost nothing about it in the media.

Oh man, crazy how close that is to 120°! I associate that temp w/a rare steak, not an inhabitable environment for human beings 😜🥵 Unless of course you like your humans rare! Haha

 

*I know you’re not complaining, but to the ppl that do (and I’m sure there are plenty). It’s like moving next to an airport that was there long before you moved there, and complaining about the noise! Uh, DUH! Haha 😆

Great tip. Focusing on this helps me a lot. I imagine Collin and DJs wrist action.

... I always felt like you can complain about the cold or the heat, but not both. Too many Chicagoans complained about the frigid, bone chilling winter and then complained about the heat and humidity in July/August. 😩  And as far as a trade off, the temps/sunshine here from October through May are just ideal for someone that loves golf and plays 2-3 times a week (or more 🤪) so I can put up with the intense heat for 15-20 days.
