I just got fit and ordered a new set of clubs.  My biggest issue was height and distance.  My Honmas had Modus 105 R shafts.  I didn’t have surgery, but with the 3 back fractures, and a heeled Rotator Cuff injury, but with arthritis in my shoulder I was going to experiment with different shafts.  Instead my club was having a fitting so I went.  My fitter was really good, he made swing recommendations if needed and tried different things. So my average height was between 32-34 feet, after the fit, my height increased to 52-55 feet, highest was mid 60’s.  This also helped increase my carry by about 20 yards as well on average.  I ended up with a combo set of Titleist with Recoil Shafts at 66 gram shaft.  I also found out my clubs should be flat and standard length.  We tried driver next and do to my path and just finishing the iron fit, we cut it short.  If my swing improves I would definitely get fit again.  I can always look for used or maybe find a better lighter weight and different flex that may work better for me.
 

 I think there are advantages in club technology, but if you don’t have a consistent swing, you probably won’t recognize any advantage.  My suggestion after all my rambling is get fit, you may walk away with valuable knowledge on which shaft is best for you after your recovery.

What it's another believer in the magic of the new Titleist irons is it? 😄 

I say in 5 weeks time you are singing the praise of your new shafts. I have played countless iron sets with Recoils in them over the years because they flat out perform. To me Recoils are the best available and I'll even call them the industry standard in graphite irons shafts and have been for well over a decade. 

 

I also say congrats Big Fish on getting back into the game. I remember the physical battles you had (down in Florida this past winter) when you first started back into golf. You had numerous set backs that caused you lots of frustration. Glad you finally healed up. Now that you are healed up you are hitting the range for practice or playing almost every other day. You have made a commitment to not only get back to playing regular golf, but to play at the best level you are capable of. You are serious about your game and that's why you went and got fit. I am glad your fitting shed all sorts of beneficial light on the equipment that is best suited for your swing. Get comfortable with your new sticks and then come on down to NC and play some golf with me.

Too funny that was my experience with him as well. I waited on him in Vegas. I tried to have a bit of fun with him when he first sat down but he wasn't having it. He told me his act was just that, an act. He was nothing like that in real life like you say. I bet he didn't smile once during his entire dinner. Not a cheerful dude by nature. After I figured that out early I turned on my robot server setting and did just the basics.

.... Kinda funny my son turned me onto Mark Maggiori all the way from Chicago. He is a big fan and helped me pick up this print that sold out in hours. One of the eye openers for me is how much good framing costs. I have spent a small fortune to frame my art but no complaints. Took me 68 years to get on the art bandwagon but it makes such a difference in. making my house a home.

On our vacation in NYS last month we went to Utica-Rome Speedway, a 1/2 mile clay track for a 61 lap (Richie Evans Memorial) Short Track Super Series Big Block Modified show.  They were joined by 602 crate modifieds.  Great entertainment  and felt good to get some dust in the nostrils!

 

 

   

Nope I could not afford all of that. Most of the time we ran 25 lappers with a couple of 100 lap big races a couple times a year

Killer pulled pork and worth the drive. 




The base of the recipe is apple cider vinegar which brings a strong acidic flavor that goes so well with rich, smoked pork. With the addition of ketchup and brown sugar, the flavor of the vinegar mellows just a bit. To take the sauce over the top, red pepper flakes and black pepper gives it a spicy kick that’s irresistible.
