Why aren't pros using BB&F Ferrules?

It’s just a personal customization. Same reason people buy rims for cars, or different color grips or lines for fishing reels, or grip tape on a hockey stick….different wheels on skateboards…etc

I understand.  It's a lot of labor for the results.  Maybe someone will come out with a two piece bonded custom ferrule that goes on easy and looks just like an actual one.  There's a market for it somewhere.

 

With all of that said I have gone out of my way to build a set of irons with Hoganesq black with red stripe ferrules before.  Come to think of it I was reshafting Hogan irons so never mind.

The same effect could be had with shrink wrap.  How long until shrink wrap ferrule covers with custom colors, etc. come out?  Why hasn't it been done yet, has nobody thought about it?  Hmmm.....

Some funny comments in here.  Patrick is such a fan of the history of the game. That guy has so much knowledge it’s crazy.  I think his bbfco is a fun way to enjoy the game for some.  Like someone said earlier, it’s just some personal customization options for the ones that enjoy it.  Same as having paintfill or stamping.

 

You don’t have to get ones that are distracting.  You can get more simple ones like Robertson or other simple stripes.

 

As for pros not using them, they go through so many clubs it does not matter.

For those that like to tinker and have the tools to do so, they're great- i can see why they're not hugely popular as its a lot of money for a minor adjustment. 

 

With that said, some of the comments in here are hilarious- I'm always curious why some care so much about how another man dresses, or in this case, builds their golf clubs.

I was caddying in a European Tour event and a Titleist pro had white ferrules on his irons. One of the head guys from Titleist was at the tournament and he was told to get the ferrules changed to black. No idea why!

They don't care. And those ferules are distracting to look down at. I prefer the small ferules Titleist uses. I don't want to even notice its there.
