Ping Prodi G vs TM Rory set

About to buy one for my 7 year old. From quality, anyone have experience with each? Also, the 8 piece set for TM seems out of stock everywhere, did they discontinue it? Ty

Read this thread. US Kids and Prodig are both great. Id probably just look for a used Us Kids set on eBay or Facebook marketplace for a 7 year old.

Stick with US Kids at that age. As they grow into the game they have a great progression in sets you can buy and you won't run into the whole 'equipment change' blues.

Stick with USKG at 7.  No reason to make it more difficult than that.

 

TM Rory clubs are toys.

Unless your 7 yo is very tall, I believe Ping ProdiG will be too long even in the shortest spec. 
 

What I like ProdiG the best is you can pick and choose. They don’t sell as a bundle.
 

I feel there are simply too many clubs at the long end for USK TS3. Most of kids simply won’t be able to use these many long clubs consistently. 
 

PS. Above is not a knock on USK equipment. I still think USK UL then TS series are the way to go for beginning kids. I just want to point out they can/should do better with their bundle’s configuration.

To the OP, I'll take a guess your kid is around 48-51" in height.  I would go with the USKG Ultralight Clubs.

I would actually suggest the Flynn Alto+ instead of the USK UL or TS lines.

 

The Flynn clubs I think are superior in quality - especially the wedges - and you can order a split set or just the clubs you want individually. My buddy's kid is just getting started and he just bought him a 56/PW/8/6/FW/Driver/Putter setup to start.

 

They really don't need a full bag for sure. I play with 9 clubs in a Sunday bag and now my daughter carries her Sunday bag w only 7 clubs and she's fine. It teaches her how to hit some mid shots and how to manufacture some distances.

 

Tournaments we go full bag, but beginners don't need all the clubs.

I agree with going with US Kids as her first club set but Flynn is way better quality and craftmanship than US Kids.  My 7 1/2 played USK for 2 years and now fully transitioned to Flynn S1.

My boys had both greatly preferred the Prodi-G set ups.  I think they are better built the driver and wood heads look like the real deal for men's.  The quality and resale value are better IMO with PING
