Watching Cameron Young employing the old trick of pegging it right down almost to the turf with a driver and hitting those bullet fairway finders is giving me some serious nostalgia vibes.

 

I'm nodding sagely and muttering to myself about the good old days with a Sandvik-shafted Taylor Made Burner Plus as I type.

Perspective - conditions aren't all that easy, most rounds over par, the few that had low rounds were out of it to start and off earlier, so I wouldn't say he's lucky, I'd say he's playing pretty well and backing up a super low round in fine fashion.

 

And all of last week's and this week's Rory chirpers gagging on their little worms, lol (not referring to you!).

I saw this live yesterday - his caddy fixed the mark and then Young tamped it down with his putter.

 

Damaging the green is incredibly weak, but it looks like he was trying to whack his shoe and just missed.

If he could only get rid of the little mistakes, he'd be winning by 5+ shots every week. He's so close.

He’s only a stone cold killer from behind these days. If I was a tour player and Rory had a 2 shot lead on me going into the last round, I’d be thinking all I need to do is shoot 4 under to have 75 percent chance to beat him on the last day. 
 

if Rory is 2 shots behind me as the leader on the last round..I’d probably be thinking I need to shoot my best round of the week to have a chance to hold him off.

They really let those greens get baked out, it was interesting to hear the announcers saying anything over about a 6 iron wouldn’t hold some of the greens, even from the fairway. Rory tried to make a mess of it on the back 9 but it looked tough to really get much going. Too many little mistakes from Cam Young.

Indeed loved the firmness and angles into the greens/hole locations absolutely mattered.  Contrast that with PGA West darts.  Been wet in SoCal though...but maybe not in Palm Springs.

Watching Rasamus Hojgaard on the DP Tour.  580 yard par 5 - driver, 6 iron carried to the flag.  Maybe my favourite swing along with Ludwig Aberg.  Both produce effortless power.  Brother Nicolai doing well at Torrey.  Exciting  times for Europe with these 3...
