Recommended Posts

Im looking at the PXG line and wondering wich one would fit me better.  My actual 3 wood is the Cobra F9 and i had the F9 19 deg hybrid as well.  Im looking for a 3 wood and 19-22 deg hybrid.   Im looking at the Gen 5 line to save a few $$$ .  The 0311 and 0311 XF should compare to wich wood/hybrid.  Im good with my F9 but had the sim ti 2 with bad result . The sim max rocket 3 wood and sim max hybrid i like them.. Please help me find the similar model .

You're going to get more forgiveness out of the Gen5 XF line in fairways and hybrids. However, both of their hybrids lines Gen5 0311 (distance) and 0311 XF (forgiveness) are excellent options. As far as fairways, I'd go with the 0311 over the XF. XF is big and bulky and spins more IMO.

Yes you may be right if mark98ca is only interested in what PXG has to offer and nothing else as he did mention what other top OEM compares to PXG as that will bring out a list of other brands

Im really looking into getting PXG hybrid and maybe fwd.  Since they are not easily available like TM, callaway and other i wanted to know wich clubs out there are a close match.  i can easily go to any golftown in Quebec and try all the club, but pxg alwatys intrigue me and want to give them a try. I hit my F9 pretty well and the 0311 seem like a good option but the hybrid the 2 seem close enough that i may do a coin flip to choose. The one i had before are teh 818H1 and F9 . They look a bit diffrent ( 818 look smaller)  but like them both

In Gen5 hybrids, the 0311 has a smaller profile and shoots the ball out with a more penetrating flight. The XF has the larger head and has slight rails on the bottom to help with forgiveness. Shoots the ball up higher and is about 5 yards shorter than the 0311. Guess it all depends on your preferences. PXG makes great hybrids as they took the top 2 guys from Ping back in 2013, who created a lot great clubs, including hybrids, in the past.

FYI, You can order any PXG clubs and try them for 30 days!  If you do not like something, send them back and it lose you 10% of cost.  Can you do that with other OEMS?

AND if you purchase off PXG Express on Ebay, the return is no loss on cost except you must pay for shipping.  AND the prices are discounted on equipment.  AND most are like new.

PXG Express is a great tool to try their clubs at no risk. Not to mention if you’re buying most clubs are basically in mint condition.

The XP model feel is in another category to all GI irons. Nothing like them.

Can’t go wrong with Callaway. They make quality GI clubs and all feel and play great imho. I’m sure they are readily available in Canada and CPO has many last gen clubs at great prices.

The main question was if there any model in big oem  that are comparable  to PXG current model ( Like if titelist 818 is similar in shape and playability has their 0311 hybrid )  because im looking to getv PXG hybrid.

I went to a PXG fitting for fairway and hybrids at a local club last week with the local PXG rep. I hit the Gen 6 0311 fairway and hybrids and have to say they are really great clubs. I ended up ordering the 0311 3 wood and 3 hybrid. I know from my personal experience being fit into the right shaft was a crucial part of the fitting.

I played the Cobra F9 3 wood. To answer your question the standard PXG fairway and hybrid will be most similar in size and forgiveness to your Cobra F9 hybrid and 3 wood. PXG’s more forgiving options will both be larger than the F9. So if you are ordering blind I would say go standard PXG heads.

They are not hard to hit. The Gen 5 and Gen 6 hybrids and fairways are excellent. Given the clubs you are playing it is not likely you’d need the most forgiving PXG model. As a previous poster said, those will have more bulk than what you are used to.

Not surprised. Just to make sure I am clear, when I say standard PXG head I mean the better player model, the 0311. I doubt you’d need the XF head. If you can play the F9 you should be fine. Much easier to hit than TaylorMade SIM Ti. Just go with the generation you like best. I agree Gen 5 is a nice deal.

Try gen6, if it works better for you, look at PXG Express for good deals on eBay. It’s where they sell their 30 day return clubs. Most clubs are absolutely mint.

That would be an option if i plan a golfd trip in the US .  But mostly looking fro a 3 wood and hybrid.. My F9 is still better than the GEN 6driver

Resuslt of my fitting:  3 wood , we went with the GEN5 0311XF with Diamana S+ 60 Reg.  -.5 inch. Tried different stiff and reg shaft ( Cypher, S limited 70, Tensei raw 65 r) . Went back to the diamana . Swing speed around 83  it was the best combo as for distance , control and dispersion.  The 0311 was good too but the 0311 xf was better . Even better than the gen 6 ( same for hybrid) . The size and shape of the 0311 xf was not very different thanthe 0311 form me  so it was pleasing for the eyes.

The Hybrid: this one i got the 0311 in 19 and 22. Better fit for the eyes, the swing..well everything. Gen 6 was close, but not enough to justify paying more. I tried the MMT , the Cypher and at last the Riptide. The riptide was the heavier of the bunch and the best for me . Like the feel and even with my back giving out early , the bad swing were still good so when i it good, it was better . All hosel set up at standard and std lenght for them.

And what i like , he understood that i dont play enough and with kids to justify shaft with Upcharge  . Allt he shaft i tried where the no charge option and we found the the right one.
