Odyssey Ai-ONE: the real deal..?

So I got a work around for the weights. First I tried taking the sole plate off. After I removed the screws I could not for anything get the sole plate off. So I used a callaway shaft wrench and took out the weights and noticed a big opening. I wanted around 10 grams so I used 3-2gram split shot fishing weights. They fit perfect and the weights went back in no problem. Also discovered Scotty Cameron weights fit to but they stick out too much.

Trusting your putter doesn't now rattle.  Other than rattling that ball into the cup...

Strike is so clicky and loud and firm on these putters. With they'd have milled an AI white hot face.

Does anyone have anymore experience with the AI-One Milled? Anyone who has purchased or tested? Comparisons to a copper or Teryllium insert? These putters seem so high end to me but I don't have any experience with the other inserts. I am thinking of pulling the trigger on a #2 CH Milled

I’ve spent a lot of time rolling them on a putting green at a big box store. I would say they’re a bit firmer than a Teryllium.

 

My one take away from the AI line is that they’re pretty hot and while they roll the ball well, for whatever reason the ball really seems to jump off the face. If I had to guess, it has something to do with the AI insert that promotes better distance on off center strikes. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing and I’m sure anyone could adjust to it through time and reps. But I did notice that if I rolled 10 balls with a Scotty or PLD and then switched to the AI Milled, I would blast the first couple past the hole until I made an adjustment.  

 

The satin blue finish hidden under the plastic looks really good but not sure how it will hold up over time. If you change the grip, be sure to try to find one that weighs close to the same as the stock grip as the whole putter was designed (the counter balanced weight and Stroke Lab shaft) with the weight of the grip in mind. 

 

Personally, I wouldn’t pay full price for one. I would wait until you come across one on Callaway Pre-Owned or on the forums here.

I really want an 8T with the white hot insert to come out.  I like the milled 8T that I have, just prefer the softer insert.

Can anyone show a comparison at address of the White Hot OG 7CH to new AI 7CH?  Curious on the sizing.  The 5K was enormous compared to WHOG and hoping not the case with AI.

Ya the 5k was large. The AI One is smaller than the 5k and the milled one is smaller than the One. I slightly prefer the shape of the milled heaf but opted for the One because the face isn’t as hot and the off center hits perform better with the One vs milled. People have said the One is really hot but I think it’s only because it goes the same distance about regardless of where the strike is.

Anyone try the nee Ai-ONE Jailbird Mini CH Putter? I never liked that you could see the face at address and wondering on this model. Seems perfect for me

Here’s a pic showing the White Hot OG 7 CH compared to the new Ai-one 7 CH. 

The Ai is slightly larger, width of the face is 3 1/2” vs. 3 3/8” for the WH OG. Width of the insert is actually slightly wider on the WH OG vs. the Ai, 2 5/8” vs 2 1/4”. Depth from the face to the end of the fangs is slightly longer for the Ai, 3 3/8” vs 3 1/4” for the OG. 
 

I’ve played a couple of rounds worth the Ai and the second was much better than the first. I put that down to just getting used to the speed and feel of the Ai.

I really hope the finish on the Ai-ONE Jailbird is better than the paint they used on the versa line.
