Odyssey Ai-ONE: the real deal..?

It must have something to do with the way it's going in and out of your bag.  Or the clubs next to it rubbing it as they go into or out of the slot.  Peel that puppy all the way off and apply some rubbing alcohol to remove any remaining residue gumminess.  I've had mine for over a week and that was not a problem, though for a cleaner look I'll probably remove it anyway.

Yeah, already peeled it off. I have a 5 way top with the Ping Tour Hoofer, the only other club it sat in with was the driver. Again just surprised how quickly it started to peel, not saying it’s a deal breaker. $450 plus for a putter, one shouldn’t have to worry about something like that.

Oh, I hear you... (so you went for the milled)

One or the other.  I'm leaning toward the former.  I've had mine for 10 days and my nemesis has been distance control on putts longer than 25 feet.  It's really helping in that area, giving me mostly the tap-ins I didn't used to get.

Maybe it's a matter of phrasing. But, is it more accurate to say that your nemesis had actually been centered-ness of strike (not saying that makes you bad, just that it's the problem it solves)?  It seems what it has enabled is your already good distance control to result in a good putt across more of the putter face.

Did you get the WH? I’ll take less “hotness” for more “straightness” any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Yes.  You know, I always thought I struck all my putts in the center of the face.  Guess I'm not that precise.

Bit early too say, but not like Burns and Rahm who have used the putters for a few tournaments now suddenly saw massive improvement in strokes gained putting

Small sample size, but they should see improvement in Strokes Gained Putting against the field, over time.  (half year?).  Unless, of course, the rest of the field starts playing the Ai ONE putter.

Evnroll as well.

I want to add, the Bobby Grace (HSM) is easily the greatest insert ever created by a golf club manufacturer.  He could sell that patent and make a literal fortune because its unbeaten by any other insert.  However, that would keep people from buying every new Odyssey or TM putter with a new insert in it.

Agreed. Bobby is a great guy and truly one the best designers. He’s not a guy that just copies other people’s design’s and tries to sell tons of putters. One of many good things Bobby has going for him is that he doesn’t need the money.

I got a chance to roll these today and they’re fairly impressive. I don’t think the WH insert is overly soft like the Spider Tour X I have can feel. It’s almost closer to a deep milled feeling. I would go milled but I don’t get on with the CH 7 and prefer the performance with the slant neck.

The last time I owned an Evnroll it claimed the face self-corrected for putts starting left or right of your intended line.  I don't remember it addressing the distance control issue.

Edel said the same thing about their putters.

Have you rolled an OG WH? Curious how it compares to the new WH.

Bobby Grace is a super guy and his putters are excellent. Exact same concept: Face engineered so that mishits roll about the same distance as a center hit. But the whole idea is to save strokes by cutting out 3-putts, you don’t necessarily make more putts because the mishits are closer, but not necessarily in. The Grace putters look and feel great, the mishit tech works very well. And he has different firmness available on different inserts. He is just not a mass marketer. Probably has more professional wins with his putters than any independent small operator in the world. Runs his shop in NC. If you call he answers the phone. If you want to learn about putting, call Bobby.

Odyssey is doing it another way with the internal engineering. Or. most likely, their over-engineering so they could say AI did it. But I do not believe these will be putters that will make more putts as much as they will leave misses closer to the hole. Tour pros like Rahm may not see any difference on made putts. A putt that goes in off the face of these putters is going in with any putter. It brings no edge there. But for regular golfers 3 putt avoidance is huge. My conclusion is Bobby Grace must be really smart if it took 30 years for an AI super computer to try to match what he’s been doing.

OG WH is just as good. I think where the Ai wins is in the tech. Same heads and feel but you get some better distance control and consistency with the Ai.

How does the Ai One (insert, not milled) compare to the Tri-Hot 5K line?  I mean, price is $100 less for the Ai One...just a deal or is the overall tech in the Tri-Hot 5K better?

Honestly, I feel like the 5k will still win the MOI story. IMHO they are essentially similar in regard to high MOI but the difference lies in the inserts. The 5k putters are very stable on off-center strikes. I used the #2 for a bit and found it very stable.

Shouldn’t a AI generated insert be based on a specific golfer's tendency’s? Even a sample size of “X” doesn’t mean a one stop shop face insert for an individual.

Yea I don’t fully understand this either.  Is it a sampling of a large data set of impact locations?  Still not everyone’s miss is in the same spots.

Sold my #7 DB Milled. I have played a White Hot insert forever so I just could not get along with the fell off the milled face.

I plan on getting a #7 DB or Mini JB DB White Hot when they release in February to see how that feels.

I like the technology, but did not care for the crisper feel of the milled face.

careful coming in here with common sense. This insert is obviously not snake oil and we finally have a putter after all of these years that is making everyone a better putter

Did they test them against each other or just the NP2

They tested their milled version against the Scotty Cameron. Other versions were tested against your putter... remember when it was missing from your bag for a week?
