Odyssey Ai-ONE: the real deal..?

This thing couldn’t be beat today, and I never would have guessed I needed a top alignment aid. It has completely eliminated my consistent miss to the right. Everything was very good on my iPing fitting (+1.1 up from 1.6 last year) and when we switched to try something else, it wasn’t as good as this. Went 35 inches and stock lie and length. Put this up against the new Inovai, Golo 6.5, Spider Tour X (close second), and an Evnroll but nothing was as consistent as the 7 T CH today. 
 

 

I don't have the milled but i do have the AI one 7ch with KBS GPS shaft installed and has been great for me.  Really shines with long putts reducing my chances of 3 putting,  has also been great with 10 footers and in putts.

Did it throw off the overall weight or SW much? I’m looking into one as well.

So possibly Ping's decision to make a Ketsch fetch w/o the face dampening grooves was questionable in terms of seemingly giving away performance on mishits across the face?

It did not, weight felt similar to the when I had the stepless black shaft in it.  I do prefer a heaver weight on the putter so I placed an order in for 20g weights which have been backordered since Jan for me.  Supposedly they will be shipped in April from the update on my orders page but we will see.  The thing that changed for me was the sound of my putts, it's more of a dead knock sound to me.

My sound changed as well with a more muted titanium ting with the Golf Pride Pro Only Cord Green Star grip compared to the Odyssey Winn grip.

I was able to put the cruiser JB in play today. Super impressed. It rolls the ball beautifully and is great at hitting its lines. I see why many have given it a go. I am not sure if I should have gone with a touch longer or not. With my grip I choke up about 1.5-2 inches. Curious what length others are playing and how much they choke up on it.

They were out in the store here earlier this week, along with the cruiser 7. Did a fitting.

About that choking up - I’ve found that going to the lowest position on the grip (with the dominant hand) and spitting the hands results in a true path benefit. Just relevant to me, maybe.

I ordered the standard 38”. I messed around with a bit of an armlock and standard. I didn’t like right hand low (I’m a lefty). I almost wish I went at 39” but I’ve been very impressed with the putter. Great roll and hitting start lines better.

Ditto. I feel like I probably could have gone 38.5, maybe 39, but the thing is so stable and rolls it beautifully. As you said, it just hits lines. Very easy to get a good feel off of this putter. The AI is the real deal with these. Just wasn’t sure if there is a “rule” when it comes to counterbalance putters for how much grip/weight should be above the hands.

I did direct from Callaway, a little after it went live. I ordered everything standard. When I ordered I thought it said March but it came early.

I did +1 with some lie angle adjustments... can't imagine that's worth a 4 month wait! I'm banking on it being an error.

That said, I would like to see a robot head to head of the ai 7 vs the Trihot 7, or the ai Doublewide vs the Trihot Doublewide. Most of the trihot models didn't feel great but they were definitely stable. The Ai line feels a lot more solid and better. I have the Doublewide in both and prefer the Ai one series. 

I totally agree. I received a Milled One T in early January. Really only been able to putt indoors with it. Even the couple times I’ve been able to get on the course the greens are still kind of rough. I’ve used a milled putter for the last eight years, and I didn’t think I would like an insert at all, but I am very pleased not only with the on center hit, which gives me the feel that I want, but the off center is getting closer to the hole. I think it would greatly help with distance control and cut down on those pesky three putts. If I’m more than 25 feet out I’m just trying to get down in two.

I've got a question here. I like everything about the Ai ONE Jailbird putter except the alternating black and white pattern on the top. If I painted it black what would I be losing, if anything? I've always been content to just line up the putter face to my line.

I took a look at the Ai-One Jailbird recently as I think it is an intriguing shape.  That said, the versa-style jailbird was a bit too busy for my eye - kind of like I was looking at three different putter heads standing over the ball.  I can barely handle one putter as it is.

Purchased the Jailbird CH Mini yesterday. Feels great. So easy to set up. 
 

with the double bend I had the issue of standing the toe up and pulling putts. Seems the CH was more straight behind the ball and made the toe sit for more center hits.  
 

I’m coming from a 37inch 7 bird that was great just lost some feel on long putts. Also had a Versa 3 that didn’t make much out of practice mode.

But the paint scheme really does help with alignment. I dont know why you'd want to get rid of that. but thats just me
