How suitable are Jordan golf shoes?

anth

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I'm interested in some Jordan golf shoes, specifically the original shoes that have been adapted for golf.

I'm unsure however on how suitable they’d be given they’re actually basketball shoes.  I currently have the Jordan 3 and 4 (non golf) shoes and even though they’re both mid cuts they are heavy and I suspect won’t be friendly for someone who always walks the course all year round.

The Jordan 6 is the one I’m currently eyeing and I’m thinking it might be a little lighter as they have changed it to a low cut from the original.  They’ve done the same with the 5 and the 12 too I think.

Let’s hear your thoughts!

I've got Jordan 1 lows and high, Jordan 4, 5, 6, 11, and 12s in the golf versions.

My favorites are the 12s and 11s and the low 1s. 12s are the most comfortable for walking. 11's are good for walking also but I prefer the 12s. Wear higher socks if you get the 4s. The back heel tab could be annoying and irritating for some. I've got 2 pairs of the 6s but haven't worn them on the course yet.

Thanks. I’ve heard that the sizes run big. Is that your experience?

I have owned every year/model of Jordan golf shoes.  Some of the older models run a little smaller than newer releases.  It all just depends on the model.

In your original post where you talking about the high top 1's from 2017 with the TW sole?  If so they are awesome and super comfortable.  I prefer to wear them with pants most of the time but they are great performing shoes.

I was interested in the Retro 6 G but there seems to be a lot of love for the XII from a comfort perspective. Just a shame there’s no consistency with sizing. Normally a 9.5

I have Jordan 1s which are fine for spring/summer golf or at the range, I really like that they are waterproof.. and I wear them around off the course too. but generally, I like to wear golf shoes with spikes.

I've had 2 pairs of the 12s that I sent back, as they're huge even an entire size down, then way too small 1.5 sizes down.. and just feel heavy and cumbersome.. not in my opinion, a very good golf shoe.

Jordans I am an 8.5uk (but starting to think I'm actually an 8uk)

the only golf shoes that I have used loads and have absolutely no problems with are the Next% and TW13s

I LOVE my Jordan 1 lows. I have 5 pair of them and wear them pretty much exclusively when I play. I walk and ride (depending on the course) when I play and the Jordan 1 lows are great for both. I have slipped a couple of times on wet grass, but I have also slipped wearing spiked shoes. I also own a few pairs of Jordan 1 low non-golf shoes. I find that the Jordan 1 low golf show is far better made and more comfortable than the non-golf shoe.

Hope this helps

Jordan 1 lows are all I wear these days.  The only thing I didn't like about them was the insoles, super thin/no support, so I threw in some Superfeet insoles.  Great on and off the course.

I posted this in the big Jordan golf shoe thread, but Jordan 1's are not serious golf shoes and as long as you have that expectation then you'll be fine.  I bought them more for nostalgia and to wear occasionally at the range or for non-serious day on the course, but they'll never perform like my Footjoys.  And that's ok!

That said, I know a lot of people who wear them every round and love them.  To each their own.  (My recommendation if you plan to wear them like that though, is buy a legitimate insole).

This is exactly my experience.  Swap the insoles for Superfeets and then they last a year.

In terms of weight, the AJ12 golf are lighter than your standard AJ12.  Same goes for the AJ6.  But compared to modern sporty golf shoes, they are heavier.

In terms of tech, the AJ6 has similar tech to what you are used to with the AJ3&4 with Air in the sole only.  Why the AJ12 is typically regarded as the most comfortable Jordan retro is it's the first Jordan shoe to use Zoom Air... and only one to have full length Zoom Air (out of the original 14).

I am surprised by the amount of people changing the insole. I am not what you would call a thin man, and I have no issues with them. And I could the out sole to be more than enough to play golf in 90% of the time here in Louisville, KY.

Thanks for all the feedback. Going to go with the Jordan Retro 6 because they’re a really good price. Nike recommend going a half size smaller which is what I’ll do

Instead of dredging through the big Jordan thread, has anyone had experience with the Wolf Grey 5s? Are they durable to wear in winter? is the Nubuck waterproof?

I have them and love them... I have worn them in the winter and they're great, however I still try to only wear them when it's dry.  I'm sure they're fine getting wet but I have other Jordan's that are not nubuck for when there is dew or moisture.

That's good to know thanks for the reply. I will give them a spray of rain and stain protector just for good measure and hold off wearing them on rainy days/muddy rounds.

I wear my Jordan 1 golf shoes when I need to pack light - they are very comfortable and provide decent traction.

How do the Jordan 1 high retro cleat 2017 shoes fit? The ones with the TW sole.

Are they true to size, or are they larger like the non-spiked 1 highs?

I find the new 1 highs to be nearly a full size big (I’m normally a 13, but wear a 12 in the high 1s non-spiked)

They DO NOT fit like the non-spiked 1 high's.  The fit 1/2 and even up to 3/4 size smaller.  I find the non spiked golf HIGH TOP 1's fit even bigger than the golf 1 low's.  The OG golf highs are SUPER comfortable!
