I actually don’t mind the look at all. But I guess I have crappy taste lol. I’m interested in this if the mishit actually feels better. The OG Paradym TD has been the best driver I’ve played with.

too much $$$ for such a cringey named lineup. the pressed carbon is kinda ugly. at least it isn't visible at address I guess unlike the stupid name in the corner of the crown lol.

From what I've watched of the reviews so far, the drivers do seem to test pretty well

 

So I'll to give them a try at least, going to be tough to want to buy one though.

Does anyone know what the face material is in the fairway woods, and especially in the triple diamond, if different than the other heads?

What is the difference between the Triple Diamond and the Triple Diamond S driver heads?

Are Caillaiwai always 45.75" in driver length?

face is the same maraging steel. Difference is the triple D uses a bottom sole steel plate where the others use the forged carbon frame found in the drivers.

Head shape profile. S has more of a smaller pear shaped profile.

I saw these in my shop today. wanted to wait to see how they looked in person and they do look so much better in person than photos. I’m glad i didn’t jump the gun. I will probably test it, still kinda prefer the looks of the og paradym but this driver looks way better in person.

I have never really gotten along with callaway drivers tried the epic flash and paradym and found not hit them well. This was also my issue with ping until the g430 max which I now currently game. I will give this driver a shot and see if I can hit a callaway driver and test is against my ping.

Love it or hate it I just don’t understand why companies make these bold design choices. It reminds me of the stealth driver with the red face, some just won’t like it and even if it was the best driver we all know the majority of golfers buy off the rack and they want what looks good to them. It splits peoples where a driver like the tsr’s really won’t look bad to many. Personally I like the way the crown looks and don’t like the way the bottom looks so if i were looking to buy this year it would have to really blow me away with its performance over other brands to go into my bag.

I really appreciate that the Callaway design team go above and beyond to develop multiple offerings for theirs Staff - but at least throw us the TD - S head this year!?

From the tally so far, I see 7 Callaway Smoke drivers heads that are out there: I guess Callaway went the way of "the more the merrier"

Its modeled after the Std Tour from last year so the shape is a little tighter/compact VS Paradym with the weight forward. The pictured head is a TC head with the + after the loft which means a high lofted version IE [email protected] vs 9@9. TC Max heads don't have the chevron as the staff preferred not to have it. I like the chevron personally.

Basic idea here guys is creating the performance of a high MOI without having to add even more weight to the perimeter to stabilize the head. Focusing on the face allows us to use the weight in more efficient ways to enhance potential shot shape/launch etc. As you all know on here the easiest ways to make a driver forgiving is to pull the weight and CG back but with Ai they can achieve the same result with fine tuning the face. Also why we can explore a more TOURish retail head with a weight forward Max design.

So is the smoke max a literal replacement for the std tour number for number or is there an MOI diff?

Hi the Smoke Max and TD today for about an hour, tested the Denali as well as the new AV Blue. This was late in the day after a 2 hour morning session on my last day off before back to work next week.

 

I will say, in hand it’s much nicer than pics. 
The feel is more solid than PD, and much more of a thud, vs hollow-ish face of last years models. Hitting it next to TSR was a mistake on my part as I currently have it, AI Smoke felt way better to me.

 

Performance was about 2mph faster vs PD in the same loft, head shaft, and spin only climbed about 500 on heel strikes and dropped about the same on toe strikes. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the feel above the equator.

I dunno why, the triple diamond is calling my name this year. I think the whole package looks great and all the reviews on performance are pretty positive.

I love all the talk of the forgiving face, but what a about a shot close to or on that weld? Doesn't appear that far north of center. Are all companies faces like that? Seems detrimental to performance.

Not number for number no as the shapes is a bit different, crown is lighter etc. the new Max is easier to turn over than the STD Tour

Thanks for sharing! You mentioned feel was better for AI Smoke than TSR. Were there differences in performance too?
