Hobbys outside of golf?

Top one is a Swedish m41/B. Some think the best bolt action sniper rifle of the WW2 era. The rifle was built at the Carl Gustafs Swedish armory in 1918. The optics are a 1942 German, A. Jackenrol 4x scope. I used to shoot in vintage sniper matches with it. 6.5x55 

The middle is a 1915 Swedish Carl Gustafs m/96 with a scarce elm stock. It's one of my favorite shooters. 6.5x55

Bottom one is a 1942 Finn m39 Mosin Nagant made by Sako. I'm a Mauser lover but these are the top of the line Mosins, not the ragged m91/30s the Russians used. Captured Russian rifle rebuilt by the Finns to exacting tolerances.

I like to build things; any sort of project that interests me is one that I can design and then build. I like car projects, too... built my own little smoke machine to find air leaks... 😄 Random....

I rebuilt the motor in 2017; cleaned it up right now. I swear, the underside of the cylinder block definitely looks like Shifu from Kung Fu Panda making a funny face. 😄

 

I built a little concept chiller; but it is anything but little. It's a water cooled condenser and a low temperature chiller. Got it down to -15F. Will probably build another one as a "learn how to weld" project. It's fun. LOL

I also tore the interior of the car apart to do a sound insulation job whilst installing new audio components. I was kinda experimenting with an integral sealed woofer box; which fits the necessary cubic inches for the woofers (8", nothing big). Trunk space is pretty much irrelevant.

Finally, the on going garage project continues (nearing completion. The only part I didn't do was the block foundation. All framing and finishing details are between me and the old man. He helps me, but I designed the whole thing from the dirt to the roof. The garage doors were a fun build. They're about 180lbs a piece. Sort of ridiculous, but the hinges are more than able to carry the weight. Automatic openers will swing them out. Just have to finish the roof insulation (installing furring right now) and then it's siding, exterior finish and drywall. 🙂

Then I can finally complete that dang car project... LOL

Finally finished insulating the ceiling. Before that we added furring to the rafters so there is air space above for proper venting. It also served to straighten the ceiling line for drywall via the chalk line.

This Rock Wool stuff is great. I am pretty eager to head out there during the next rain storm to see just how much it muffles the sound. While it isn't the sound proofing specific type, this type of insulation insulates sound better than other varieties.

Oh, and for the knife makers, I can't say enough good about my MagnaMatic metal dust collector for keeping the shop clean.  The spark arrestor really works.

Does paying for my kids sports travel count?  Between baseball and soccer I’ve knocked out 1/2 the US.

 

Edit:  when home we work with a local rescue and foster dogs.  Its  horrible how mean people can be while inspiring as to what these dogs can become once given a chance.
