What’s everyone’s thoughts on the shafts available with the TD Max? Are they the actual real deal and launch comparisons with blue vs black Denali?

I play RDX Black 6.5 in 9 loft and had no issues getting it up in the air.

Does anyone have experience with the Mavrik max single Diamond head? From what I’ve seen the setup and concept is pretty similar to the the triple diamond max but without the newest bells and whistles. Just wondered how they compared to each other.

I'll let you know. I am gaming the Mavrk Max SD head right now, after giving up on the Paradym TD driver. I traded in the Paradym TD for the AIS TD Max, and taking it to the range tomorrow.

Yeah for sure. Hopefully someone can talk about both to see how much of a difference it is. I should probably be a good boy and keep my Ping either way.

I will give you the full review by Friday

ive had a sold the 10K, and hit the TD Max 6 times tonight and was very happy with the distance and stability.

Read that article today actually. Thanks for your feedback. There’s an option thru callaway to order the max d in a flat setting?

Yes. Custom menu had a cog option of standard vs flat. Not massively different, a degree or two.

My thoughts from another thread...

TD Max is HUGELY impressive in the golf course environment (where it REALLY counts, but I digress), particularly for players who don't spin the driver a ton, but in an indoor fitting bay it is not going to make TrackMan/GCQuad squeal like the OG Smoke TD or (insert knuckleball dispenser driver of your choice here). If Max TD was a full blown retail release, it would likely turn into that driver that the customer SHOULD choose but just can't make themselves do it because the other driver in the contest produced that occasional intoxicating nuclear missile... while wrapping them around a tree trunk on every other ball.

Think I've said it in other threads, but compared to Ai Smoke TD the Max TD doesn't have as high a distance ceiling but by comparison it is a bit like bowling with bumpers. Think today was my third round with Max TD in play, and every time out there have been drives where at impact I'm thinking "uh oh" only to look up and see a perfectly functional ball. Not taking me to places no driver has taken me before (while by no means being short), but it is saving me shots by giving me a clean look at a green that was thoroughly undeserved. Much to be said for that, obviously, as it's those differences that show up very clearly on the card (again, where it really counts).

This makes a lot of sense.  Still would be nice to see it as a mainstay in the lineup: very forgiving, pretty low-spin.

What shaft do you have in it?

On 6 shots each last night on the second last hole, and after a lesson the 24 Velo+ 6x tipped 1” is leading. I will play 2 rounds with it tomorrow and Friday before (if required) testing the Ventus Red 6x and/or AV Blue. My lesson last night was primarily around driving vertically off the lead leg, which I have had a bit of a collapsed front side leading to really low launch parameters and so the swing that I’ve been using for the majority of our season was a bit different to what I was working on last night , but it significantly changed the trajectory of the driver. The head is 194 g and D3 swing weight playing at 45 1/4“.

I’ve been super guilty of falling in love with trackman numbers over the last number of years and I’m finding now the best results are to hone in on a bit of dispersion indoors and relatively decent launch conditions and then take it on the course.

Has anyone compared the TD Max to the standard Smoke Max and/or the Rogue Max LS?  Just wondered if it is longer, ball height similar, shot shape similar or too much bias in head, etc.

Thx.

I have one on its way and wanted to make sure it is hitting or not.

I've played a Rogue Max LS on and off for a long time, waffling between that, a Rogue TD, Paradym TD and Smoke TD.  The Rogue Max LS really is a great head I kept coming back to when I wanted a little more forgiveness.  The new Smoke Max TD head shape looks a lot like the Rogue Max LS head, it's shallower than any TD I've played.  The easy adjustability of the front/back weight is a huge difference that I love, and the new Max TD head definitely launches higher, not in a spinny way, and "seems" more forgiving so far.  Distance seems similar although ball speed has increased marginally for me with the heavier head I've created.  I haven't had enough range sessions/rounds to say there's more forgiveness for sure, but so far, I'm happy and impressed.  I had a Max LS head in 10.5, and my Max TD head is 9.  The Max TD head sits much more open than my Rogue Max LS head.  Turned up to 10 it's still slightly open.  Turned up to 11 it's almost square.  The Rogue LS would close if you turned it up at all.  For me, the Max TD is easier to work either way.  After playing the Max TD for a short time, I'm finally trading in my Rogue LS.

Sounds like 8.5 heads should be moving out from Fairway Golf as we speak  🤩

Dimensionally the 10k pushes the limit of the vertical axis MOI toe to heel of 5900 so prob ~5800. The TD max has a MOI of ~5100. The horizontal axis is undetermined but safety can assume they are similar with the TD max having a slight edge in that it has a slight lower CG position.

It is more similar to the LST imo. but the real difference is going to be more anecdotal in terms of the address look and the difference of the feel of the 10K having a CG further back than the TD max and how you mesh with it. Everyone's different some wont even notice, personally it always a bigger adjustment for me going into a ping head.

Am I the only one that hasn’t seen great results and fallen in love with this driver?  Got out for another 9 tonight and while distance was fine the dispersion wasn’t great.  I see to have the tendency for the wayyyy wide right shot, high slice I guess you’d say.  The head feels light to me also, coming from the Paradym TD 8°.  Put it on the scale though and the stock headweight is actually 5g heavier the the PTD.

I guess I’ll play around with the weights some and see if I can get it to work, otherwise the head is off to BST sadly. May grab an AI TD.

I had definite fade bias, and a few of those high rights at the range with it.  Not so much disappointed, but need to get used to the driver.  I am going to throw it in a draw setting and see it that improves the shape some.  I am not typically a slicer either.  Loved the flight I was getting for the majority of the session.  Carry distance was a lot better for me.  I don't imagine it would be a good fit for players that have a slice miss.

Also, the AI TD Max was supposed to be less fade bias than the AI TD.

To be fair, my miss with the PTD was a nasty hook so in that regard it’s helped there LOL.

i need to get back to the range with it and mess with the weights and settings.

Where does the Paradym TD fit in that mix?

First time in a long time I have looked at Callaway tbh.  I just know of what I have researched from this year's line.  I am sure others in here can answer that though.

The Callaway 2X trade-in promo made it impossible for me to pass up. Van’s (Worldwide Golf Shops) gave me $260 for my Triple Diamond, meaning all it cost me was $80 bucks out of pocket.

First impressions are very good. The most important consideration for me was the look at address. The overall shape is still not as rounded as I would like (ala Smoke Max or Qi10) but it does sit much more squarely behind the ball (still a hair open) eliminating the feeling of having to manipulate the head behind the ball to get comfortable.

To the naked eye, it’s hard to tell if the launch and spin are any higher. Maybe so, but if that’s the case it’s a negligible difference. If anything, I would guess that the peak height on most of my drives may have been 10ish feet higher.

I’m the type who is influenced a lot by the look of a club. A club looking a certain way will make me want to do this or that. I was having a bad habit of catching the ball high on the club face with the standard Triple Diamond, to the point where I was hitting a quasi pop fly now and then. Not something I had ever really struggled with before. Although the face is slightly shallower on the TD Max, I didn’t have that problem yesterday. Small sample size but it had been a consistent problem with the standard model.

Finally, definitely more stable than the standard model. The ball wants to go straighter, there is no question about it. I had been struggling with a case of the hooks and even though the standard model is more fade biased, I was more accurate yesterday. Very tight draws for the most part with the exception of a couple lousy swings.

Initials takeaways after one round. Small sample size but I’m certainly excited to continue playing with it!

@duck_hunter appreciate it. I’ve had my eye on the Mavrik max SD for quite some time.

@Sleeky_D just got back from the range. initial impression is promising, here's my observations:

1. PAISTDM has a crisper face than the Mavrk SD Max. Mavrk SD Max face felt similar to last years Paradym TD, like it was a little "spongy"

2. ball flight is a little bit lower and flatter with PAISTDM vs the Mavrk SD Max

3. ball comes off hotter with PAISTDM, more pentrating for me than the Mavrk SD Max

4. PAISTDM shape is not so wide and round  like the Mavrk SD Max. more traditional than the Mavrk SD Max

I used the same shaft in both drivers, Ventus 6x Black.

I will keep both drivers, as the Mavrk SD Max has been my go-to when my driver goes to shiet since COVID started.  Definitely happy with trading in my PTD for the PAISTDM. Suits me way better.

I'd say the PAISTDM is newer and sleeker version of the Mavrk SD Max in a smaller package and crisper feel

I just added my second TD MAX to an ad I have had running in the BST if anyone is interested. Not flipping for profit, just moving the extra one. It is new and exactly the same as mine.

My thoughts after my first round.  I put my driver in the draw setting to see how it would effect the fade bias.  I will probably throw it back to neutral for my next round just to see which I prefer.

It's a very forgiving driver but not a cheat code if that's what you are looking for.  I was able to work the ball a lot easier left and right vs my LTDX.  It is great for toe strikes.  I didn't have any of the 250-260 to spin shots that had been my problem shot.

Morning round in the low 70's and I had 2 tee shots that were right at 300 yards.  So I imagine this thing will be bombing as the weather warms up.  Bad miss hits had much better dispersion but tended to be a little shorter than normal, but the driver keeps it in play.  I would expect that being a higher spinning head than the LTDX.

Swing was grooved during the front 9 and I only missed 1 fairway.  Back 9 it got a little loose as I played through a couple groups.  I was 2 for 7 on the back with 3 legit misses.  2 were good drives that just didn't start on the line I intended.

Con of the round was 3 hooks but they were bad swings honestly.  And I am typically a draw player and had the driver in a draw setting.  Very pleased with this driver, and I can't wait to get it dialed in.
