Rafael Nadal wins a golf tournament by 7 shots

Nadal won the Balearic Mid-Amateur Golf Championship shooting 3 over for 2 rounds and won by 7 shots. There was 79 competitors and several low single figure handicaps.

Of course it is not the Spanish Mid Amateur but quite an achievement for a great sportsman who is still trying to play top level tennis.

 

However that swing though... 😅 but saying that he is stronger and has better hand eye coordination of the 99.99% of the world.

I mean it's a tennis swing that's what he knows, he also probably has better face control than some pro golfers.

Would love to see what he can put together if he gets that setup even more sound, but he's clearly making solid contact. Won't complain if he makes the switch and plays a few events regularly once he hangs up the racquet.

Good to see!  We're going to Vegas next weekend for: Adele, Dave Matthews Band, U2 final weekend.  He's scheduled to play Alcaraz on Sunday but there has been concern about his injury; hope this means the match will go on.

 

And if I had $1MM to waste on any frivolous item, it would be his Richard Mille 27-04 watch with the tennis strings design

Is it an exhibition match? I read that he fairly recently became the ambassador for Saudi tennis. I gathered it was basically like LIV for tennis. I sorta glanced over the article and can definitely not have those details right.

Yeah, put on by Netflix as their 2nd live sporting event.  The 1st was the Netflix Cup last NOV during the F1 race week; we went to that too!

I believe Nadal is just promoting and "growing" tennis in Saudi Arabia. There has not been any rumblings about them taking over the ATP Tour... yet...

 

Although there is an exhibition event happening in October with Nadal and Djokovic.

I'm a tennis fan and Rafa is one of my favorites.  He played golf at my club in '22.  His swing looks exactly like his backhand.  I talked to one of the guys he played with who described Rafa as very nice, relatively quiet and very competitive on the course.  They were playing a friendly 4 ball and Rafa was grinding.  He ended up in deep footprint in a bunker, rake job faux pas from a prior group.  He was offered relief, refused, and got it up and down.  Have to respect that.  His fight in tennis apparently carries over to his golf game.  He travels with his clubs on the tennis tour and has a running competition with one of the guys on his team.  Pretty cool.

Works great if you have A+ coordination, timing, speed. If not then results might vary from really bad to "Meh it's decent sometimes"
