The Hoka of golf shoes?

Recommended Posts

What either the equivalent be in terms of comfort and podiatry? 😇. I have some foot problems and use prescription insoles. Don't need Hoka/rocker soles for golf, but looking for ones that offer good support. I looked into True Linkswear but it seems they are more the ON of golf shoes with their zero drops.

Brands that currently interest me are Payntr and Ecco. Currently game the Adidas ZG23 BOAs and they are ok for one round but I usually need a day to recover my feet after that.

If you're ok with spikeless, I have a pair of Hoka shoes I wear when not golfing and these New Balance's feel honestly quite close. I really like them, probably the best walking shoe I've used

I have 2 pairs with the fresh foam and they work very well. My planters fasciitis was flaring up when I bought the first pair and worked so well I bought another.

My podiatrist also plays a good bit of golf and he says Ecco.   That is what I wear and good for the custom orthotics.     Shoes are such a personal thing that this might be best for me but not others.

What he said. The NB Contends are great! Very light, very comfy, great support, and great traction.

Love my boost soles

The adidas tour shoes have been great

I have both the soft spike and spike version

my feet have really been good in those.

I'm with this 100%, picked up a pair of last seasons adidas boost spikeless for $120 off retail at PGA SS here recently. They are honestly the most comfortable golf shoes I've ever worn.

The problem I've found with using non-golf shoes for golfing is that although they do provide the comfort you want they just aren't built to handle the stress on the side seams that you put on shoes when golfing. I've never tried Hokas for golfing, too expensive an experiment, but both New Balance and Adidas trail shoes ripped fairly quickly on the sides for me.

I have NB shoes in a model more similar to Hokas and they are good for mat practice but as they running shoes, that side support isn't there.  And grip.

I got a pair of shoes I really like. I hadn’t bought Hoka’s yet and I was really impressed. Ugly as sin, but SO comfortable. And they are golf shoes so they support side to side movement. When I tried on Hoka’s, I was like, “These are as comfortable as my golf shoes”.

I’ll check what brand they are when I get home. They have enormous “boost-like” soles. Kind of like Hokas.

They are the only golf shoe I’ve ever owned that walking up cart paths and into the parking lot felt the same as walking on grass.

Like Hokas, they aren’t exactly waterproof, so I won’t be wearing them until the course firms up a bit. But I am looking forward to it. Played, probably, 50 rounds in them and they still work great.

Bad feet here as well.

I am going from spiked to spikeless since I started walking more - less stress on my feet.

I have an older version of CodeChaos and just got ECCO BIOM C4 - I tried all the ECCO models in a store and found this to be best for me - I'd suggest the same, each model may fit you a bit differently.

Pay attention to using your own orthotics when trying as your orthotics will likely take away some of the vertical space available.

I think CodeChaos are more comfortable but I have only worn the ECCOs 3 times.

Speedgoats are amongst the most highly rated trail shoes. I have probably 50rds on 2 of my pairs of SG5- no sign of failing from stress. I'm 230lbs as well - Only time my SG have showed any signs of stress -is taking them on pavement for 250miles(daily 5k walks).

Speedgoats on the course - one of the best decisions I've made for my feet20240311_035752.jpg.69d2d91af4e62fcf12f8adb8a08ca010.jpg

Stratos are incredibly comfortable and on sale. They seem to have taken the Pro SL and Stratos and turned them into one shoe this year with the SLX. Haven't tried them yet though.

Payntr. Extremely comfortable shoes.

Been looking at that. Do you prefer spikeless?  I am also confused whether or not they are waterproof. They have a filter for waterproof but the descriptions all say water repellant. I’m in the PNW so stuff is wet almost year round even if not raining.

I have the spikeless version and love them, no traction issues and very comfortable. I haven’t worn them in wet conditions yet, but I have seen reviews that say they are excellent in the wet.
