I'm sure she's not the only one. Rose may be the future. But right now Nelly seems to have set up house in the top 10 and there are no signs that this won't continue.

I wonder what that jump in the "water" may be like this year.  Are there gators in that part of Texas?  I'll always watch the ladies majors but man this year just doesn't feel right for what once was (imo) the biggest major for the gals.

Narin An.  After pretty much going a full year w/o even a top 15 (compared to a handful of top 10's in 2022), this is the third tournament in a row where she is at least on the radar.

She hit an outstanding shot on the par 3 17th. To about 4-5 feet on Thursday

 

She missed the putt and got way down on herself. 
 

The pin was on a ridge   Very difficult putt to read

Agreed on both points. I'm not sure why the latter, except perhaps since coming out of USC she hasn't lived up to their expectations? A lot of that is due to back issues. Personally, I've always liked and respected her.

Interesting leaderboard. No surprise that Nelly is near the top. Jin Hee won 4 times on the KLPGA last year, so even though she's fairly unknown, she's got game, especially that putter. 

 

Jeeno looking might good. 

 

Really surprised by some of the players missing the cut. Jin Young is in quite the funk. Ditto Danielle. 

 

Very nice, and emotional sendoff for So Yeon. Nice to see so many players bid her fairwell. Funny to see her mom dump a glass of champagne on her.

There were some comments that Jin Young has been injured (didn't play for a while), I don't know the specifics.

 

Minjee and Rose need more time at the range, less time at the commercial shoots.  However, there are plenty of others that were playing well recently and are out the weekend.  On the other end of the spectrum, HYP made the cut.

I did a Google search. The back injury caused her to shut it down last summer. The LPGA reported last month, "Salas was forced to step away from the LPGA Tour last season following the U.S. Women's Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links, needing to rehab a lingering back injury that had become increasingly difficult to play through." Mar 23, 2024. Golf Digest reported that it was so bad, Salas was considering retirement. The LPGA report stated that she seems to have recovered after 8 months away from the Tour. 

 

I'm hoping to attend the JM Eagle Championship next week at Wilshire CC here and she is entered, so we'll see how she is doing. I hope she has recovered.

I only asked because you made it sound like she has been plagued with back issues her entire career, which is why her career has been less than stellar.

I'd say it has, "Salas' debilitating back issues started four or five years ago, but the pain started catching up to her last May. That's when doctors recognized Salas had multiple disc issues as well as muscle problems." Golf Digest, Mar 20, 2024

She's played an awful lot of golf every year for someone suffering back issues every week, not to mention she rarely missed a cut. Mighty impressive for someone dealing with a decade of pain.

Am I the only one who cringes when the announcers say "past winner of this event". You can change the name/sponsor a hundred times, once it switches venues it's really not the same event, especially when it's not a rotating course.
