I’m hitting my irons better in boots

No joke.  I randomly meet some family at TopGolf one night (unprepared, but clubs in truck of course)) and was stripping in boots.  Didn’t think much about but I started experimenting in the backyard net, same results.  So, I’m thinking the lie angle is off on my clubs and/or the heavy boots are keeping me grounded.  Anyone else experienced this before?

I guess it depends on the boots.  You could be more aware of your footwork/balance and subconsciously making a better swing.  Or, the length/lie angle could be wrong and you are now in a better position. 

 

It's like me wearing sandals to hit shots.  I could never do it until I got this one pair.  Only ones I could ever do that in.  Not that I hit it better, I just could hit shots with that pair.  They are long since gone.

It cowboy boots with 1.5” heel.  I think L/L angles must be off.  Kind of makes me think I should go back to heavy style golf shoes too.

Lie adjustment isn't expensive.  Usually about $50 and a half hour of your time.

Seriously, perhaps the boot puts you on the balls of your feet and in golf shoes you tend to get back on your heels?

Try one of those inserts that make you taller and put them in your normal golf shoes.  That should mimic the angle of the boots.  Then you'll know if it's the actual boots or the additional heel-height.

Boots with flat bottoms enforce better support and stability; Would seem to be a good combination for a golf swing. Wrist to Floor measurements are always taken with shoes, and boot soles shouldn't be THAT much different that the hairline of a difference would matter.

 

So I'm going with stability. 😄 

Though, wait, you used your own clubs at top golf? Bad Bad. Very Bad! 😛

Years ago was at a putt putt and the guy ahead of us was using his Anser 2 and his 8 yr old kid was beating the brakes off him with the orange vinyl POS bullseye putt putt special putter. ☺

Stripping in boots? That's the weirdest family gathering I've ever heard of, lol

 

All kidding aside, your pressure/weight shift is changed by the higher heel, and in a way that improves your swing. Consider yourself lucky! I once put half-length orthotics in my golf shoes before a round and the minor (1/4") change in heel height made me feel like I was falling onto my toes on the downswing. Fought the shanks for 9 holes before realizing the reason and taking the orthotics out.

Could also be a bit of the Tin Cup effect where you're so concerned about how your boots are making you play that you stop thinking about all your other swing thoughts and just hit the ball.  😁
