You know, while the result of that shot is worse, the swing doesn’t look awful.  Griffin’s swing was horrific, especially in the slo mo replay.

I saw Mr 67-76 (aka Tom Kite) pull his tee shot left on 18 at Southern Hills, went maybe 140 yds, no one got smoked fortunately.

I watched banana ball on TV for a while today.  I have to say, it was sort of entertaining.  But when golf goes to banana golf ball, I'm out.

PGA Tour lands new title sponsor for Kentucky tournament

ISCO CHAMPIONSHIP

The PGA Tour has a new title sponsor for its Kentucky event, with piping solutions provider ISCO Industries taking over the spot formerly held by Barbasol. ISCO is signing a four-year contract for the ISCO Championship, held in Nicholasville, Ky., July 11-14. The tournament is played opposite the Genesis Scottish Open, an event co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.

Financial terms were not disclosed, though sources said events at this level have been commanding between $8-10M annually. Louisville-based ISCO did not use an agency and negotiated the deal directly with the tour's business development team. This deal means the tour is now fully sponsored for the 2024 season.

Now, the tour's sponsorship team will turn its attention to 2025. SBJ reported in May that Truist is signing on for the Charlotte tournament, formerly held by Wells Fargo, starting next year. An announcement on that deal is expected soon.

Also, both of RBC's tournaments – the Heritage in Hilton Head and Canadian Open – are up for renewal. RBC only signed one-year deals for 2024, and its CMO Mary DePaoli indicated recently the bank wanted to see how the current upheaval in the men's pro game played out before signing any long-term contracts.

SBJ reported in January that Farmers was not expected to renew its deal for the Farmers Insurance Open following the expiration of its contract in 2026.

The guys playing in this tournament are playing for their playing rights, East Lake and major championship entry.

 

The PGAT is much more than the top 48...... The PGAT is about cultivating talent....

Arron Rai hit a tight draw for three days.... On Sunday his shoulder tightened up and he hit a banana ball all day....

I found today’s final round very entertaining. It is going to be very interesting to see how these youngsters like Davis Thompson, Michael Thorbjornson, and Luke Clanton develop over the next few years. Throw in guys like Ludvig Aberg and the future looks bright. Also Aaron Rai is an easy guy to root for. Same with Eric Cole.

I went Friday, first shot I saw on the course was CT Pan hitting a low duck hook off the tee for a par 5. I was surprised when I saw him in the lead after that day.
