earlier in the week, my morning classes got cancelled, so i decided to go to my home course and hit some balls, hit a large bucket (approx. 125 balls), and was hitting it really good, so i decided to play 18. ended up breaking 80 for the second day in a row (my lowest score before this week was 82 from the second to last tees). finished around 230. went home, ate lunch, then went to the little 9-hole course right around the corner from my house, hit 125 more balls, and then played in a 9-hole scramble that went from 530 until a little after dusk. came home, and after a good shower and some food, sat down, put on the golf channel, and fell asleep within 15 minutes. i do already have a couple callouses on my left hand fingers (which is weird because i'm right handed, aren't i supposed to get them on the hand without a glove?) i play with golf pride MCC's.

"How many can I?"... well I "can" hit over 1000 if I wanted to.... but that would be a little overkill. I usually hit around 2-3 extra large buckets (around 225-350) balls. And then i'll go and walk around 5-9 holes. Some days i'll just hit 1 extra large bucket then go walk 9 or 18. I do this 6-7 days a week and have been for more than a year now. It's a good thing I get free range balls and play for free or else i'd be in some debt! A day that I don't go to the course....just isn't a good day.

today was an average day for me (when not in school)... i hit about 600-700 shots... and prob 400 pitches/chips...

when i am in school that numbers prob gets cut in half or maybe down to a third of that so i guess in school anywhere frim 250-400 shots...

also i use full cords on wedges and tour velvets on the rest...

For me it is about quality swings with pressure for each to be a good hit. I will only hit 1 bag (maybe 25-30 balls) a day, at most...usually takes about 15-20 minutes imagining each as a drive at my course, trying to shape them properly. After that I like to spend 30-60 minutes doing nothing but 30-50 yard pitches to a separate green, lots of chipping, and putting to keep the speed of the green ingrained in my mind.

1000 including half and 3/4 shots. theres not much merit in just batting them out there, but every once in a while i'll spend about 5 hours on the range.

I usually get to the course about an hour before I tee off. In that hour I like to hit about 4000 to 5000 knockdown 7 irons. Just to get the blood flowing. Then I hit around 2000 drivers and Im off to the putting green. Knock down around 100000 yes 100000 4 footers before I let myself tee off.

Wow, that ALMOST made me laugh, but not quite.

About 25 - 45 balls before my lower back gets tight and my swing goes to rubbish and all the bad moves start to reintroduce themselves with my swing !

although I can play 36 holes and not have any pain

Christ you guys hit a lot of balls. I probably hit 50 balls a day just with a pitching and sand wedge down the back - go to the range thursday arvos after school, spend 2 hours down there with an hour short game/hour long game (sometimes i think that's overkill, but i get to talk through theories with a friend's dad who's a pro :D), course friday, and either work on the weekend or play saturday or sunday, never both due to school :good:

A normal "golf day" for me goes like this:

2 buckets of balls on the range, 100 balls. Depending on how I'm hitting them I either use everything in the bag or work on what's going wrong with 60, then hit the remaining 40 at the 50m marker from various angles and lies.

1 hour of chipping around the green... unknown number of chips.

30 minutes of putting. Unknown.

18 holes of golf. High but now rapidly falling handicap (fell 2 shots this week).

I guess that's around 100 full shots and an indeterminate number of chips and putts.

If I may ask, how do you afform (monetarily) 1000 balls a day and have the time to do such a thing?

That's what I was thinking. The only explanation I can come up with is these are professionals or college players with access to free, unlimited balls. It's what they do, it's their job.

I found a place that lets me hit all the balls I want, use a short game area, and putt for 10 dollars. I think they have such a nice deal because the course is a little out of the way, so generally the people who use the facilities are just warming up before their round. As far as practice goes, I hit maybe 100 balls, chip for a while, hit another 100, chip, hit another 100, then finish with putting. I can only go one or maybe two days a week, otherwise I'd hit less balls per session.

At about a minute per ball (full visualization, setup and prep), I can't realistically hit more than 300-400 balls (not counting chips) in a day long range session. My daily average throughout the summer must be around 200 balls. I don't find that playing 18 holes is really difficult on the hands. For me, it's practice that's the most demanding. I use hand cream almost every morning and before going to bed.

I use Lamkin cord grips on everything except my 4 wedges. I like the cord grips because they act as a constant reminder to grip the club lightly -- otherwise they simply tear my hands apart.

Most of the people I know (normal working people who play golf 20-60 times a year) won't hit more than 75 balls at a time.

personally i just love hitting golf balls. Can't get enough.

started our own business so that takes up a lot of my time, but between that and the girlfriend I just hit golf balls. Was off at 7am the other morning. Was up at 5 am to go hit balls on range beforehand. just love it. Could hit balls all day long if i had the time.

On the other hand if i'm playing utter tripe and cant hit for toffee on the range i find it quite frustrating so tend to cut those sessions short and go get drunk instead.

I love to practice. I have a tube that holds twenty 21 balls in it, and I start out by picking 5 different spots around the chipping green and hitting 5 tubes from each spot. So, around 500 balls.

I then hit 2 buckets at the range using my short, and long irons.

I go back to the chipping greens and practice lob and bunker shots. Again 5 spots, 5 tubes, about 500 balls.

Back to the range with two more buckets, this time its mid irons, and woods.

After that I will usually go play the par 3. If its busy I just play through as normal. If its slow I take three shots at each. I'll hit one from the tee box, without a tee. I drop one about halfway down the fairway. I'll also drop one about 30 yds or short of the green.

Excellent practice, and it really pays off. I rarely miss greens on approach, and if I do chipping in isn't about getting it close, I truly think I can hole it every time. I don't, but I always feel its a definite possibility.

I do this at least 4 times a week. I throw my Zune on, and zone out for hours at a time. The world could collapse around me and I wouldn't know. Its just what I love to do.

Now, when I take my son with me its a whole different story. I don't get near as much done, but its a lot more entertaining to say the least. That boy is a riot.
