This is not true.

Airbags are triggered to deploy based on either an acceleration level or the derivative - Jerk (depends on the manufacturer & type of sensors). He could have been driving pretty fast and clipped a fire hydrant or obtusely hit a tree (or run over a small tree) without triggering the airbags. If he had hit a large, immovable object head-on at over 18 mph (like a large concrete block), then the airbags would deploy as that is the speed to which airbag deployment is calibrated to trigger 100% of the time under those conditions (per regulatory requirements). That said, I'm not sure how Cadillac calibrates their airbag deployment.

I used to do impact testing/development for one of the automakers as part of my job developing a seat integrated seat belt system.

Facial laceration can cause serious bleeding and make it seem serious. As for the accident, i think we should wait until we comment further without speculating so much. Seeing how his air bags didn't deploy, it seems like the vehicle hit the objects at an angle. I highly doubt someone traveling 33 mph can run through a fire hydrant and then take out a tree. Also gm vehicles have onstar equipped with black box like features

If your cousin is feeding you information re: a pending investigation he can lose his job and pension in a heartbeat so I'd keep it to yourself.

They did not take any blood from TW or any other victim at any auto accident scene - not for typing, not for testing, not for anything. Did they do a toxicology screen once he was admitted - absolutely as per Level I Trauma Regs and per the police. I can assure you that they will find nothing other than a normal level per his prescribed meds ... yes he still takes precription narcotics PRN I'm sure.

I'm not saying he wasn't drinking, I'm not saying he didn't have a Perc on board, I'm not saying I know what contributed to his goof. It will be swept under the rug if anything was out of place.

As far as the "serious" condition - any face or head injury including laceration is Level I and most hospitals list as "serious".

Most importantly, let's think of his family and all of the children that benefit from his foundation ... everyone just wish him well and please leave all biases at the door. Whether you like Phil better, don't condone tantrums and spitting, don't like acceptance of appearance fees or simply don't like a black man being the most recognizable human on earth, please save it for other conversations and threads.
