I never understood why people laugh at amateurs who carry staff bags. I don't have one, yet. But I feel that the people who make fun of amateurs that use staff bags are the same people who spend X amount of money on tour equipment but couldn't score scratch if their life depended on it... To me that's more laughable than someone who spent a little bit more money on a functional bag that doesn't do anything to their actual game. Just saying...

I don't see the need, too big and bulky, not to mention expensive...
+ great in rain conditions
+ great to carry 19 clubs (yes, sometimes you need to do that in practice rounds)
+ great to carry a lot of stuff, next to your rain-suit
+ fits 40 balls in my ballpocket. great for me :)
+ a lot of pockets for a lot of stuff
+ high comfortable to carry
- costs

Can someone answer this for me though, because I asked it a while back and didnt get a response.

I hate those huge clunky bags because I walk every time out.

Those tour bags are strictly for cart golf, no? I've never seen anyone pack one of those around a course.

For cart golf I could understand having that behemoth for storing stuff, but it just isnt practical for a guy who walks every round.

I'm gonna be a hypocrite and go for the staff bag route. I'm playing a lot of comps at the mo. Walking is killing my back and neck. Even with an aerolite micro stand bag with nothing in it is getting painful. I'm gonna keep the stand bag for the summer when i play a quick 9 after work and just take a half set. I already have a few staff bags i've been given so i'll use the srixon one. I'm also getting an electric powakaddy. Not great at 24 years old but something i better do if i want to keep playing. I went to a scratch 72 hole tournament and less than half were carrying.

I also used a buggy while on holiday (we don't have them where i live) and i didn't felt like i had played after 18. Seems carrying wears me out more than anything.

If i had to use a push/pull trolley i wouldn't use a staff bag

No offense but unless the player is VERY good they just look stupid carrying a staff bag around
i guess i would look more stupid with a "regular bag", a fannypack and a bagpack. or is that the "non stupid looking way" to carry all the stuff on course? :)

I gotta ask, what makes them look stupid?
It just looks like they are trying too hard to be like the pros on TV. They have caddies who carry their clubs virtually every time they play. I mean if you use a cart every time you play, then I guess you might be able to justify it, but they are just too big IMO. But then again I live in SoCal where rarely we even need rain gear.

at my very best... I was a 6 handicap... but I was a 15 when I worked at a golf shop in the late 90s...we all got staff bags... I still have mine... It was AWESOME that the company bought them for us.

I got tired of luggin that beast around... but it WAS free and came with my name on it....

personally I don't care, if you ride a lot then go for it! You can pack A LOT of stuff in those things! I'm trying to walk more and more so a standbag works for me. Exploring a hyperlite or a really light bag.

I noticed that too. I think it is because this thread is unnatural and defies reality - it just won't die for some reason. Just as it seams to be going away, sure enough someone replies "what is wrong with staff bags?", or "who cares what someone else uses", or "staff bags make you look dumb", on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and onon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on

Would you pay to have some company's logo put on your car? Makes about as much sense as paying money for a staff bag. But hey, if it makes you feel cool...
You do realize that pretty much every car sold today has it's make, model, logo or emblem both on the front, back and sometimes even side of the car.

Same goes for carry bags too.
Not to mention the sticker from the dealership you bought it from. Whenever I have bought a car the first thing I ask them to do it take their License plate frame off and their sticker off MY car. Unless they would like to pay me for advertising fees.
