I lifted the bag (other clubs, balls, range finder etc.) out of the cart by the 9 iron... I then used both alignment sticks, pulled every club out of the bag, everything. I was at this point belching profanity and my girlfriend at the time (she also played) was bawling because she paid for half the bag for my birthday. I played the rest of the round without my 9 iron. I got home and spent 15 minutes with a flashlight and 2 dowel rods before finally extracting the 9 iron.

next day, I call Callaway and explain the same story to the girl who handled my issue. She laughed pretty hard at me describing throwing every club I had out of the bag over my shoulder, one-by-one, onto the tee box (which is true, I was p!$$ed). I finally stated, "the reality is that I can't use the bag, it pretty much ruined an entire round of golf for me and stressed my girlfriend out to the point of tears." She was silent for a few seconds and said "OK, I'm going to send you a better bag. put the current one in the box and send it back." Cool, I figure there's an updated version. 2 days later, I had a brand new black/white 2011 TOURi bag on my porch. I was stunned. There was a note on the reciept that said something to the effect of, "let's see a club get stuck in here!" (it's a big 6-hole bag obv.) and a pre-paid return shipping label.

I use a staff bag, and I am an amateur. However, I am awesome at hitting golf balls, and I also don't give a damn what people think. I would much prefer to be one of those people who so upset the OP and others with an inferiority complex, than in 20 years time to be a hunchback golfer due to constantly carrying.

I'm in the market for a new bag and I'm thinking about getting the Callaway mini staff bag. I'm also thinking about getting my name on it.

Is there a permission slip on here somewhere I need to fill out and submit for review by the Official Golf Bag Approval Committee before I purchase it?

I want to make sure I get the proper approval before I commit to buy it.

It doesn't matter to me. People can do what they want. However, I would not print my name on a staff bag or call myself a pro unless I was a PGA certified pro or playing on at least legit mini tour.

There is nothing wrong with putting your name on a staff bag but its probably good to at least have some game to back up such a cool bag. Either way, its a free country.

I can tell you that I have both. The wife bought me the staff bag for a birthday present. She thought it was cool. I use it because she actually did it on her own without me saying that this is what I wanted. Pretty sure your bag doesn't play so whatever someone has is what they have. You still have to go out and play. I will say that you see a ton of staff bags here in Hawaii. Mostly tourists though!

I guess the only time it wouldnt be cool to have a staff bag (as a free swing hack like myself) would be if I went out and took a caddie. More than likely that caddie will be double bagging if I am playing with someone. While they would never gripe about the bag (to my face) they wouldnt like it. Some clubs even ask folks (hacks,etc) to put them in a carry bag.

Maybe they were on the bay late one night and came across a smokin hot deal, bid on it thinking "There's no way it will go for that little" and next thing they know, they own a staff bag without first properly grooving their swing in order to obtain the aforementioned handicap allowance.

I don't understand the talk of price of a tour bag. I paid the same amount of money for my Ogio Ozone XX stand bag than my friend paid for his Titleist staff bag. I've since bought a Clicgear and now I'm thinking about getting a Mizuno staff bag as the average non-staff cart bags just look stupid to me and the stand bag bounces around a bit on the cart.

First of all, Why is a guy worrying about another players golf bag? Who cares. He can use any kind of bag he chooses and has the money to afford. If he wants to put his name on the bag, again, I don't care. This conversation sounds more like women discussing purses and what kind that she should carry, if it goes with that outfit, One lady to another....That purse looks terrible with that outfit, its too big!!

I really don't understand "why" anyone would care one way or another, what kind of bag, or clubs someone chooses, moreover thinks it merits a thread. If someone feels a bag is worthy of a laugh, its not a stretch to think other shallow perceptions will follow.
