Amateurs with Staff Bags...Yes or No?(merged)

Recommended Posts

I have one a UPS truck that is out for delivery. Just like the set up and the easy of use on a cart. I walk with a push cart or I ride on a golf cart. No need for legs that always seem to break after a year or two of use. Also, all bags are advertising their logo. Get what you like and enjoy yourself. Like many have said on this thread. It is simply a bag.

I find it a common trend that many GolfWRX'ers are people of first impression and sensationalism. "A guy with a staff bag was a jerk, therefore all people who carry staff bags are jerks." Trust me, it wasn't the bag that made the guy a jerk, just like owning or not owning a tour issue club doesn't determine your skill level. My basic question to this whole thing: who the hell cares what someone else plays? And if you have a big problem because you think staff bags are just for advertising, then I hope you are playing a non-company bag and have headcovers that don't show any branding.

I use a carry and a staff bag. I like the staff bag a lot, I got it for a song, and it holds all of my rain gear, snacks, has a great valuables compartment, and I can carry a few beers during a scramble if I so please. The fact is, whatever bag I bring on the course has no bearing on how you play. And if it does, you should probably pick a different sport.

I have a staff bag, tour issue driver and 3 wood with tour issue shafts, blades with KBS C taper's, Vokey's and Scotty Cameron, etc.

Am I a tour player - No
Am I a scratch player - No
Do I care what others think - No
Do I take the game seriously - Yes, very much so
Would I change - No

I only draw the line at people putting their name on the bag - that is going too far (way too far!!), but if some one want to do it, then so be it

Wow I never knew that some many people, hate people with staff bags. I just bought one because I like the look look of them and that I can fit all my crap that I usually never use in one place. besides the roominess I also like the fact that is standup real nice. If people think I'm a snob, I don't care, my golf game already gives me enough headaches to worry about someone else s opinion

I'm doing a complete 180* on this. I regretfully made some jerky "poser" comments about this a few months back.

I've changed course and am going to pick up the Titleist midsize staff bag. Will be great for when I ride, and is supposed to be useful on a push cart too. It's easier to get clubs in and out and they look great.

Driver: Ping G25

4w & 7w: Ping G25

23° Hybrid: Ping G25

5i - pw: Mizuno MP64

54° & 58°: Cleveland RTX 4 raw

Putter: The Wilson 8802 (vintage model)

Ball:  Titleist Pro V1x
Bag: Original Jones Golf Bag (green)

i have a Razr staff bag, on my second one.. i love them. i have a tiny walking bag, but i never walk. i personally got tired of having to put my normal cart bag back in place after going from one shot to the next. so i got the biggest one i could, problem solved. plus, clubs never get hung on each other, room for EVERYTHING i need and more to spare for friends if need be. hell, i even had Cally put my name on it. i dont care if people laugh at it, ive never claimed to be a Tour Pro. i work hard for what i have, if someone is jelious/bothered by it... get a life.

i suggest one to anyone who rides mostly, id never walk and carry it though (weighs 45 lbs fully loaded). i wouldnt ever pay the 399 and up for one though.. go on ebay. my first one was brand new, in tags and plastic, shipped for $170. hell you cant buy a "cart bag" for that new, and still has less room

Thanks---
RBZ irons are pretty ridiculous... Easy to hit, long, (almost too long)
Have them in the bag as a test....I go back and forth, but I think these have actually hurt my ballstriking as a picker....
New TPs are going in the bag as soon as possible.

that is a sweet bag! Even if you paid for it that is something to be proud of. I would love to get something like that for free. I think the majority of staff bag haters are just jealous.

Thanks---It was something that was given to me by TM, and I absolutely love it...
Plus, there is so much room in the bag, that the clubs dont bang around...I have 2 other bags if I ever walk, but this one is my pride and joy for now...

I'm shocked that nobody has commented on those who carry a bag with Titleist, Callaway, Cobra, Ping,
Miura, etc, in big letters on the side of their bag. They seem to advertising for the company, do they
have the game to represent the company, or are they posers?

Makes as much sense as complaining about those who use a staff bag.

I'll use a staff bag just by reading the responses in this thread. If im playing a match and using a staff bag againt someone with a likeminded attitude like some of you I've already got the upper hand and am in your head before even hitting a single shot. You would be complaining about my staff bag and not 100% focused on your own game and that would give me an upper hand and I would just use that to my advantage. During the round I would throw subtle hints about my staff bag ie. its heavy, its got alot of room etc and that would piss you off and give me even more of an advantage.

I walk with a Ping hoofer, and I've seen the majority of great golfers use a similiar bag.

In fact, I've only seen 2-3 guys ever rock a tour style bag and they were poseurs or got them as a gift from their wife.

I wouldnt want to be seen with one, but thats just my style. I want light and mobile for my bag.

I have a staff bag, but don't use it on the course. I did when I first got it, but it's just too big and heavy. Now it sits in my garage, holding some of my extra clubs.

Hell yeah! I have two... both Bridgestone... and like them a lot. Why? because they look great, because I can put all the crap I want and need inside of them and lastly, because of how much easier it's to get my clubs in/out of them and how much more protected they are (less banging against each other).

I don't care what others say or think about me... I have a pretty decent game and don't consider myself a poser at all, so if you have a problem with me using a staff bag, I have two words for you... f**k off :)!
