I think it's as ridiculous as amateurs going out there in pants on 95 degree days...but if either is what you want to do then more power to ya and who am I to judge.
[/quote]

I wear pants almost always. Seriously though, when did pants become a bad thing? I got in the habit of wearing pants all the time because despite 95* days, when I played twilight golf the mosquitos were horrendous. I got in the habit of it and like how it looks and feels on the course--instills confidence and looks good. I was always raised in the school of "dress slightly better than you need to."

So, just to clarify: I sometimes use a staff bag, I wear pants as an amateur (sometimes they're white or colored!!!!!), I used JDM equipment, I use blades, I play x-flex shafts, I have a set pre-shot routine and I play at a moderate pace (not fast, not slow). Basically, I am the nightmare of people who make threads to complain about things that amateur golfers do.

LOL! Yes, you are a pariah, a leper, a festering sore on the souls of those who get annoyed and sardonic at what others wear or use when playing a game.

BTW, Re long pants, I too wear long pants almost always because here in Joisey we have greenheads, gnats (noseeums), black flies, and mosquitoes. However, I made a real find at, of all places, Target (now all those folks can look down on me too). They sell a line of really lightweight golf-specific pants made by Champion. They are made from a synthetic fiber so they are cool and don't get all soggy with sweat. And, they come in different colors/patterns. I even have a funky purple plaid on black pair (just to piss people off by wearing Poulteresque clothes sporting only a 9 index).

I have a friend that only wears pants when playing golf. Actually, he always wears pants no matter what he's doing or how hot it is. I've known him 22 years and never seen him in shorts. Not even when it's over 100* outside.

I saw those pants too! I wish I they fit me a little bit better. Unfortunately they do not fit me as well as I would like due to the whole "tree trunk lower body" thing I have going on. I did find something similar at my local Steinmart that suits me just fine from Alan Flusser. Love the breatheablity of the synthetic fiber and the coverage from bugs in one package!

That said, I do go to the range in shorts usually, and I go sockless, so I still have the worst shoeline golf tan in the world.

Also, to get the thread back on track: amateurs suck. You should only be allowed on a golf course if you have a tour card. Then, all of the staff bag/blades/slow play/pants issues would be moot.

Kind of funny how prevalent those 'issues' (non of them are 'issues' for me) are, and how new threads get started about them seemingly every few days.

When I took up golf in the 70s, shorts = hacker.

Which of course was ridiculous, but I still can't bring myself to wear them.

On the first tee the other day, a couple of older gents asked the shorts wearing starter what happened to the rest of his pants!

All of the "poser" talk never ceases to amaze me. When I started playing as a teenager, there probably wasn't anything I could have done that was more uncool. Other kids were always asking me what was wrong with my left hand since it was white as a sheet from wearing a glove.

I didn't care then and I don't now. Golf is the greatest of all individual sports.
Be an individual.
Now, don't be obnoxious about it.
Always be considerate of others. There's not nearly enough of that today, and we're really going to need it going forward.
But stop worrying so much about what other people think about what you play, what you have, what you drive and who you date. You'll not only play better golf, you'll live a better life, and you'll have more money since you won't be buying things trying to impress your "buds."

"You think we play the same stuff you do?"

Back in the 90's a friend of mine gave me a gift of a custom set of Tommy Armour's for Christmas. Her husband was a club builder at the factory. I got to custom order them straight from the factory in Chicago. They threw in a personlized staff bag! I wasn't an amateur because I was in the apprenticeship program in the PGA....so I felt justified!

Besides the TM Staff Bag that I have, I also have numerous other golf bags. I won stand bags 2 years in a row in raffles. I gave one to my son and put the other one in the garage to hold extra clubs. Beside the full size TM staff bag that I only use when riding in carts at or near home, I have a smaller staff looking bag that I take when I travel. It does well since I carry rain gear and other "stuff" that I want with me.
I could really care less what anyone uses but personally, I have no use for a bag that offers absolutely no protection of the contents of the bag other than the clubs if I get caught in a downpour.

Im more concerned with my play than what my playing partners look like carrying a staff bag. I have a taylormade 09 masters season opener staff bag. Bought it purely because of how great it looks. I don't care what others think

I have both. I typically use my 4 Under carry bag because I walk most of the time. But when I know I am riding, especially playing a nice course, staff bag every time. It looks cool plus it is a lot more functional. More pockets, soft lined pockets, easier to get clubs in and out......nothing worse than struggling to jam a club in my carry bag after a bad shot.

I absolutely love my staff bags. I only buy the bigger 10.5" staff bags because your clubs don't get tangled and I can hold a ton of stuff. I carry short and long sleeve rain shirts, pants, ear muffs, sock hat, rain gloves, a cooler, umbrella, etc. You just can't do that in a carry bag. Currently rock 2 different Scratch bags. Love em.

I picked one up yesterday for $149 at a local golf shop.
I couldn't resist the price, otherwise i would have never got a staff bag...
I don't have anything Mizuno, but the color and look of the bag is just simply awesome.

I'm not sure if it will fit on the back of a cart or my CaddyTek push cart, but oh well.
I might have to just pick up some Mizuno irons to match the bag now.
