Amateurs with Staff Bags...Yes or No?(merged)

Recommended Posts

The only reason anyone ever bought a staff bag is because they look cool. And the only reason anyone ever threw a party was to get laid.

As a staff bag owner myself, I'll be the first to admit that and I'm totally shocked people would ever claim otherwise.

Don't you want to look cool? Don't you appreciate the opportunity to see cool equipment in other people's bags? I always enjoy that moment when I walk past someone's bag and I notice they've got nice forged irons and a nice set of metalwoods with premium shafts.

How in the world do people come here and chat about equipment all day and then play it off like as soon as they get to the course they're not at all interested?

That said, I don't see other people with staff bags as attention whores. I think they just want to own cool stuff. If we could all afford to spend $50k+ on our daily communiting vehicles, we all would. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

That's actually really cool! I have seen these threads on other sites and I just don't get it... You want to rock a staff bag, do it. It's all about what suits you and works for your game. I've seen scratch golfers with Hoofers hit it out of bounds and chunk chips... BFD. I picked a Titleist mini staffer up off CL last year for $100 and mainly because I was sick of my clubs not fitting in my carry bag well enough. I went back to the carry only because the staffer was getting beat up... I love to see a nice staff bag out there, I don't care how bad you suck (not directed at quoted poster, just a general statement).

Wouldn't happen all of our carts are 3 or 4 wheeled "push carts" clicgear 2.0, bagboy quad, bagboy tri-swivel we "push" them. Oh' I know, you must be talking about old school bagboy two wheeler's now those are called "pull carts" but you can push them as well.

It's all Good I just think it's funny to hear people call them trolley's

Probably the same way I find it funny that New Englanders and maybe Americans in general will call disposable knives and forks made from plastic "silverware"

What's a staff bag?
[/quote]

They are golf bags that are so difficult to use that only the most skilled of golfers may use them, and they only work properly if they contain Miura baby blades. Most professionals who use them are poseurs.

Got this today, probably too big, probably a bit heavy, even had to buy the tour bag kit from Clicgear, but when it cost less than a dozen NXT's brand new (thanks to the other half working for Titleist and going to a staff sale) who cares. So before you judge someone on which bag they carry (or push), just consider that they may have a very good reason for it and if they haven't, it still doesn't matter! PS, weekend hacker and if my choice of bag annoys you, says more about you than it does me.

If someone has a negative "NO" opinion on this subject, its sad. Why the hell would anyone care? Oh, I know... internet allows people a voice, that otherwise wouldn't have one f2f.

If i have enough money to buy expensive staff bags, i would do just that hahaha. I like their looks, and there's noting wrong with putting my name on my stuff :p

And saving up money will come faster than the day i get a free bag with my name on it (ie. not gonna happen)

It effing cracks me up that people have "opinions" about what I carry my clubs in. As long as it doesn't impact the speed at which I play, why in the world could it possibly matter? Staff bag fits all my booze and cigars. Stand bag is for if I want to drive my maserati to the course.

Staff Bags are a work of art

I usually have three at any given time, the current gamer, the prior gamer(which eventually gets sold), and a very rare one(TW) that sits in the golf room harboring my putters.

The staff bag rides nicely in a cart or on a push/pull when walking.

Stand bags, IMO, are for high school golfers, or the young folk. The idea of hoisting my clubs up and down between shots is NOT part of my game, but guess what, I also have a couple stand bags on the rare occasion when I get invited to a Country Club where we use caddies..

You would think that would be the ideal place to show up with the staff bag loaded for Bear in full poser-mode, but I refuse to have a caddy, usually a young kid, lugging it around the entire loop.

Ive got a Callaway Staff bag and I love it. I walk all the time, but with a bum shoulder carrying after 9 holes can get painful. Bought a push cart and have no problem walking our course. I think we need to step back and not take this topic to serious. We all have our reasons why we buy the bags we do, whether its a health reason, maybe you like to ride or you just like the look of the staff bag. At the end of the day its nobody's business . Everyone is entitled to there opinion but at the end of the day the only one that matters is your own.

I voted who cares. If guys choose to look like wannabe posers on the course, all power to them.

Just kidding. I don't use one anymore cause I have a fold up buggy designed for something smaller, but staff bags are great if you carry lots of gear. They look great on the course too, a real old school look. I have a Srixon staff stand bag on my buggy.
