Best place to have putter deep milled?

I want to get a Cameron Newport 2 deep milled. In a perfect world it would look like the circle t's milling, but im sure thats tough to have done. Send pics of what you have!

Tom Slighter gets my vote (he's done a lot of work for me including deep milling). But LaMont is very good as well.

From what I have read on a few sites, there is some sort of connection between Tom and LaMont. It seems to be sort of a teacher/student or mentor/ ????
LaMont is one of Tom's biggest fans and that is the sort of thing that sets the putter world apart from the other industries where cut-throat happens, daily. Well, I guess that there has been a few cut-throat dealings in the putter world as well, but Tom and LaMont have never been involved.

I am giving my vote to Tom Slighter...After all the great reports on Lamont I have had one problem with him, AWOL! After my first contact which was answered quickly I have sent multiple e-mails and have heard nothing for 2 weeks, the last simply stating that if he did not have them time or want to refinish my putter just let me know. I have since contacted Tom and after every e-mail I send I can expect a reply the next morning. Tom may cost a bit more but at least I can get a hold of him...so my Kombi S is going in for a Black finish and deep milling this week!

You will be happy with the work that Tom does, I can guarantee it. Yes, I have that tendency to drop a ball from time to time. It has been my Achilles heel.
I am just glad that you were able to get the work that you needed done and that you chose a great quality person for that job.

This is my gamer. The sound and feel of this putter is just amazing to me. I ended up puting it through one coat of black ox.

Just curious. Do they lap the old face smooth before applying the new milling, or just put a coarse pass over the fine milling already in place?

I would hope the latter, as the former would involve a lot of weight removal.

I am betting that it is on a putter-by-putter basis for most of these jobs. If you get a putter that has seen better days, simply milling over the old face will look like that is exactly what you have done. Also, on most putters, if you do that same thing, the original milling will show thru, to some extent. If you look at the Studio Selects, the milling is not as pronounced as some maker's putters. This might make for the perfect situation.
But, unless you are doing the work, it is tough to understand just exactly what is involved, or why some of the things done, are done to create a better surface.
If you are sending a putter to have it deep milled, more than likely you accept the fact that you are going to lose some grams. The difference between cleaning a face, then deep milling, or simply milling over the top, is probably 1-3 grams. Do you want a truly new face or just one that has been hogged across old milling? Just food for thought.

I've got two Scotty's at Tom's for deep mill right now. I have seen pictures of the putters and they look great. His customer service thus far has been very professional and prompt.

I would also vote for Lamont. To get in touch with him you have to email a few different emails he has, and also PM's through a few boards he participates on, you'll eventually get him Great work for the price for sure.
