I'm rooting for the USA but i'm going to feel bad if Els and Ryo lose again
Every time Ryo hits the ball into the bunker today I'm going to sing:

"His name is Ryo and he dances on the sand
Just like that river twisting through a dusty land
And when he shines he really shows you all he can
Oh Ryo, Ryo dance across the bunker sand"

My whole point is why in the world when you were one of, if not the greatest pressure putter of all time, would you go changing your technique and approach to putting. He clearly was dedicating most of his practice time to ball striking and lost his feel, but that is no reason to go and change technique. He just needed to put the time back in practicing.
I don't get it either. Tiger was the greatest putter I have ever seen and then he changed putters and changed his stroke. Why would you mess with perfection? Johnny Miller had a great comment yesterday on that really long putt that just missed. Johnny said that those used to go in and he was right, I really think the old Tiger would have made it.
He claims, as most of us may know, that he wanted to match his putter release point to match up with his full swing release point. Chips too.
One release point for all the swings. Sounds like it makes sense, but hasn't worked out. Putting is so feel and instinct reliant. Seems weird.

but I have 35 putt/round on good days so......
I guess that may be it, but I have only heard him say that the short game swing and release is to be the same as the full swing. That makes sense as they are similar, but the putter stroke and full swing don't have / need to be anything alike. Maybe he did say the same regarding putting, just saying I have only heard him say it in regards to his chips and pitches. He made that comment last week actually referring only to short game shots.
Johnny Miller had a great comment yesterday on that really long putt that just missed. Johnny said that those used to go in and he was right, I really think the old Tiger would have made it.
Johnny just loves to hear himself talk. I thought that comment was ridiculous.

It was like a 30-foot downhill putt on 14-stimped greens with like 10 feet of break in 30 mph winds that missed by like 2 inches and Miller said "The Tiger of old would have made that..." That's ridiculous! Sure the Tiger of old could have made that, but it's not like that's what made him "the Tiger of old". That's like Jordan missing a half court shot after he came back from his yearlong hiatus with the White Sox and Marvelous Marv Albert saying "the Jordan of old would have made that..."

To me, Tiger's career will look a bit like Jordan's career. Super dominant for a long time, suddenly average for a two year spell (Jordan's baseball debacle and subsequent loss to Orlando in his first year back), and then back to winning championships again when the Bulls won 3 straight in 96, 97, and 98. No one looks at Jordan's last 3 championships and says, "he was a dominant as he was when he was 28" because he changed his style of play to suit him at that stage of his career.

I think Tiger's doing the same thing and will have many more opportunities to win. He's changing his game and it will suit him moving forward.

Careful what you say. Some here, found Johnny's comments poignant.

I'm with you, I find him unlistenable and unbearable. Listening to him say how bad a tiger shot from the fairway was, that happened to find a bunker as compared to an even worse shot that DJ would play and listen to him attribute it to the poor conditions. He's the Lou Holtz of golf analysts.

Statement was true though.

What I got out of it was:

In the past those putts seemed to always drop in there for Tiger, where now those putts aren't dropping in there, instead, they're burning the edges. That's a very subtle difference that makes or breaks a score.

run of the mill driver with stock shaft
a couple of outdated hybrids
shovel-ier shovels
wedges from same shovel company
some putter with a dead insert and
a hideous grip
