TRUE TEMPER,

Does the Project X Flighted play to the same stiffness as regular Project X ??? Feel ???

THANK-YOU

Stiffness- yes. But, since it is flighted, the long and mid irons will feel a little softer and the short irons should be identical.

I also would like to know when Taylor Made will start carring the project X flighted shafts. I am about to put an order in with regular project X and r7 tps, but if its going to be right around the start of the year then I will hold off.

I don't see Black Golds as an offer from them either.

The OEM's usually wait for demand before they add premium products to their lines. You as consumers can continue to request they be made available, hopefully they'll listen.

Is tour concept getting any more play ??

It is so hard to get PGA players to change iron shafts, especially the big names. Now that we have 98% of the iron shafts on tour, the emphasis will be on getting more graphite woods in play.

Not to step on TT's toes here... (If this is bum gouge, please say so.) My old clubmaker got a spool of labels with "X1004" on one side of the label and "X100" on the other side. I asked him what the X1004 was about and he told me that when he builds clubs with DG, he was told to overlap with the "X100" out when they are .355T and "X1004" when using .370P. He was told that the "...4" was to indicate a 4" parallel tip section.... Not sure if it's true or not but it sounded good at the time.

Partly true. Many older DG bands have X100 on one side and X100U on the other. It is true that the clubmaker should overlap and show X100 if he is using tapered shafts to and the U side if he is using parallel shafts. This was supposed to help determine what tip the clubs/shafts were. The X1004 I think is only found on DG Sensicore X100 bands and to be honest, I think they were misprints that have gotten out into the market.

As far as I know, Tiger uses tour x100's, and thats a 99.9% certain answer. never heard of x-7's.

Not to start debate or anything, but I know for a fact that he uses normal X-100s

I spoke with a friend of Tiger's a couple of weeks ago. As of then, he was using X100's tipped 1".

You guys are all wrong, everyone knows he uses DGXTOOFREAKINGSTIFFFORYOUANDME (cool) :idhitit:

 • 1 year later...

I was talking to my club maker today about the X7's. He is not to sure if they are the ones Tiger is using but he gave me some info on them. They are tour quality ("one of the shafts available") . They are similar to the X300 in weight. They play a bit stiffer than a X100, They play with more accuracy than any other Dynamic Gold shaft. They are a high kick point shaft. "If you can make them flex properly they are just amazing. Well worth the money!! $60 to $65 CAN per club. "
here is the link for the X7's

Tiger uses plain old X-100's.........end of discussion

there was a reprint on here several days ago of his press conference last week. He was asked about his iron shafts and stated they were the same thing he's played since he was 14 years.......DG X-100's tipped 1/4 inch.

Straight from the man himself......

My contact at at TT tells me that Tiger uses a standard DG X100 shaft with the exception that it is weighed to make sure that it is exactly at X100 Spec weight. \

The X700 everyone is referring to is a DG Tour model that was made to compete against the very stiff Precision Rifle product. The X700 is what the shaft would spec out at though I am not sure that they call it a X700. I think the weight of it is only around an X300 or so but it plays stiffer due to the way it is constructed.
Tiger does indeed play TTDG X-100's. However, they are nothing like those you can buy retail. They play equivalent frequency, tip, and butt stiffness wise to what an X-700 would if they existed, which is stiffer than what a TTDG Tour plays. Hope this helps!

E
Curious where this info comes from since Tiger himself and the True Temper rep who posts on here both state they are regular DG X-100'

Quote from his press conference

TIGER WOODS: That's a very good question. I have played exactly the same setup in my irons since I was about 14, 14 and a half, X-1s tipped a quarter. I haven't changed in 17 years. Irons have been exactly the same. Driver shaft is obviously different, 43 1/2 to now 45-inch graphite, but I haven't changed a thing in my irons.

It doesn't mean I haven't tried. I've experimented with other shafts, but I've got this innate feel now built in for all these years what has been working for me.

No iron shaft change in 17 years!

Thank you.

I hope all this dorky TW equipment speculation dies off. I understand the argument will always be cyclical, with new people entering the forums... but it does get old sometimes.

As for the DG Tours, they are excellent for those who need lower launch and more spin reduction than X-100 provides.

The step pattern is identical to a normal X-100 tapered shaft, but with thicker stepping diameters and a larger butt section. Shaft code on the butt is different as well, completely different than a normal Dynamic Gold butt code.

Went to the local launch monitor a week or so ago and did a quick comparison. The main reason was to check launch angle and spin. The club used was a 3 iron. The X100 was hardstepped.

X7 Avg 3100 rpm

X100 Avg 3300 rpm

On average the X7 launched 1 degree lower and also carried less.(+/- 1 yard) This was the first time I had put the 2 shafts on the LM. In the "real" world, I found that the X7 rolled out a WHOLE lot more than the X100.
After the hockey season I want to go back and test the 2 head to head again with a higher SS.

God Bless

I think they are DG X-7's/ Could someone please confirm this. I hear that they are stiffer than the X-100's, and heavier. That is all I know. Please elaborate if you would, please.
That's right and they hand assembled by Mr. Miura by candlelight after he hand forges all of Tiger's irons with an old bellows fired forge.

ALSO THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROJECT X FLIGHTED AND NORMAL RIFLE??????

I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE SOME HELP GUYS
Wait! Hold on!

For your post to be truly effective and answered, I recommend that you increase the font size tenfold, in addition to typing in all caps. :russian_roulette::)

I'm only kidding ...good natured ribbing, really. But just a heads up, most people around the forum would rather not see a post in all caps. I guess it's not proper netiquette.

In my experience, the PX shafts are butt stiff, but higher launching than standard rifles. They tend to play more stiff to flex. I like them because they can handle an aggressive move to the ball.

Obviously, the PX flighted will have different bend points in each shaft (lower in the long irons, higher in the short irons).
