Hi I just got my numbers 94-8-5-6-5

What are my recommendations? And what would be a graphite option (preexisting wrist issues)
Steel

Dynamic Gold X100

Project X 6.5

C Taper X
Graphite
No recommendations from the DNA software because there is nothing in the X flex range available in graphite from Mizuno.

My recommendations are:

Aldila NV 130 X, bend profile very close to Dynamic Gold and has a very dampened feel.

Aerotech SteelFiber i125 S, has a bend profile very close to the CTaper
Dave, would a Sensicore insert in the X100 help the cause?

Yea I'm wondering if x100 with sensicore would be my best bet although ctapers are intriguing
How about flighted 6.5s? Too loose for my numbers?
Not that it's too loose, but PX has a much harsher feel than either DG or the CTaper as they're more butt firm. I'm playing CTapers now and you've got a more aggressive transition than I do. They do well with transitions like yours. As always, the key is to try them out doors. It all comes down to how they feel and react to YOU. Good luck!

Thanks, yea I swung some Px 6.0s back in the day and didn't prefer the feel. C Taper X seems to be the ticket, just gotta find some pulls now!

I play MP-53's with custom built KBS Tour S. I tried this out at a local Golf Galaxy.

My numbers were near identical:
87, 5-4-7-4
87, 5-4-7-5
88, 5-4-6-4

Curious about a shaft recommendation.

My main question is about the Shaft Kick Angle (7,7,6). I'm looking at this as more of a teaching/learning angle, but I'm having a hard time understanding what that means. The website says how far forward the shaft bends forward during the downswing. Is a high number mean more forward bend, or less? What part of the downswing? Top transition, middle, near impact? Am I unhinging my wrist early? I feel like I compress down on the ball pretty decent (6 iron launch angle in the 16* range), does this suggest otherwise? A little info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have said it before on other posts that the toe down and kick angle can safely be ignored, because these aspects of a shafts performance are already controlled by the overall stiffness of the shaft its bend profile. The drivers which really matter are swing speed, swing tempo and release. The toe down factor can be useful in giving the fitter an alert to recheck the dynamic lie because a high factor will influence club contact with the ground. Your release factor of 4 shows you have a reasonably late release of the club.

Can this software also determine Graphite for Driver shafts, or fairway wood shafts? I just think it would be interesting to find out what, if any, technology exists to help pick those shafts.

Dave - thanks so much for the info. Time to hit the store and try these out. Any thoughts as to the PXi in the same flex?

The PXi is certainly worth testing because your tempo is on the smooth side, (just not slow enough for PXi to become a recommendation) so you should be ok with a lighter weight shaft. You might as well try the Dynalite Gold XP S300 while you are there especially if you are looking for a higher ball flight.

Hope you get sorted out.

I'm going to take this opportunity to be a salesman for the Dynamic Gold SL instead of just going Dynalite Gold XP (again). The reason is that the DG SL is simply the standard Dynamic Gold characteristics plus almost 30 gram difference in weight. Where as the Dynalite Gold XP is a completely different flight profile for getting the ball higher and only shaves 10 grams at most. If you are looking to shave weight without changing ball flight, go DG SL. I love them.

Congratulations on a release factor of 1, I have not seen that so far. The C Taper looks like a good place to start if you feel you are having spin problems. Your tempo is reasonably smooth so the new C Taper lite S (not available from Mizuno) also looks like a good option. The standard C Taper R+ (also not available from Mizuno) is also an option because of the reputation for stability the shaft has.

The good old X100 is worth a look, although you tempo suggests you should be comfortable with slightly lighter shafts.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for some clarification. What does that mean for my release? Late?
Late release simply means you hold on to the wrist hinge a long time in the downswing, releasing the angle very late in the swing (1 is as late as the optimiser measures). It is a much sought after (professional) swing characteristic. It is also the main factor suggesting you need a very stable shaft (firmer than your raw swing speed suggests) and especially stable in the lower section of the shaft (why I think the C Taper is worth a look).
