Ha I chuckled a little when I saw that. Don't let Titleist know the ProV1's are performing above their price level, next year the price will be jacked up to $57 a dozen.

I wish I could my hands on some Maxfli Tour Fires again. They started out as a "Fall" ball for me (got 3 dozen @ DSG for like $36.00) just to use in Fall when the handicap computer shuts down and we start playing "leaf rule". You know about where it landed but can't find it, spend maximum 2 minutes looking, and then your opponents say "Just drop one here, no penalty". With the trees on our course, you can go through a lot of balls that are just off the fairway. I decided to try these as I've always been a big John Daly and Maxfli Revolution (wound) guy, and they were amazing enough that I went back and bought every box DSG had on the shelf and gamed them all summer long the next year. Easily 10 yds longer than ProV1X with almost as much spin, yet felt softer off the irons. ProV1X would stop and drop for me on approaches, and these would take one hop and roll out maybe 4/5 feet. I'm not good enough to be within 2 yds on approaches, so it was a wonderful ball at less than half the price.

I spit beer out my nose when I read the "medicinal marijuana" post. I live in OH and had a buddy make his own "License" complete with the state seal and laminated.

Srixon Ad333. less spin on full shots, better in the wind. I generally buy them for £13 a doz.

Here in the UK, until the greens are 'rock hard' in the summer i play these all year round. Ran out yesterday and had to play PRO V1 in the wind during my medal round.

Im a 9hcp and dont normally get much spin on the ball but with the softer greens yesterday i was backing the PRO V1 up about 10ft... i was not happy. Not a great ball in the wind either.

If you are a high spin player and can sacrifice a bit of feel around the green these are a great ball at great price and IMHO better than say NXT Tour.

By the way avoid the non Tour version. They feel like rocks...

The answer is...whatever decent ball is on closeout. I laugh (and throw up in my mouth a little) when people say things like Q Star and NXT Tour in this thread. Balls like that perform EXACTLY like their price point would suggest. They're fine balls, but they don't distinguish themselves at all in the $25-35 range. Now take the FG Tour blems for $13. THAT's a deal. Gamers for 9.99, That was another beauty. NXT Tour for $30??? Really????

This has been mentioned before, but the Nike PD Soft is a very good ball for well under $20/dozen. I know a teaching pro who actually played some serious tournament golf in Europe in the late 70's (was paired with Seve once). He played the PD Soft for several years instead of the Pro V1x because he found the performance for his game similar. Note that he manages his play around the greens with trajectory more than spin.

I have also used it and if it wasn't for places like lostgolfballs.com and knet I might also be a PD soft user, although on partial wedge shots its spin performance is not quite as 'crisp' as the V1/V1x.
