Be very careful when ordering custom lengths with the Covert!

It seems that Nike is measuring this club differently than other manufacturers, because the Covert is only an inch longer than my current driver, which is 44.25. The covert is supposed to be 45.75, but I don't think it is.

I honestly wish I knew for certain. If at all possible, I would measure your club against a standard production and subtract.

I hope instrucing them to a trim shaft to a "playing length" of 44.25" would be good enough...

i hit the covert tour today with the stock x-stiff kuro kage shaft ! i can tell you this club is a beast very workable and flat out sends low spinning bombs. i had it set at 9.5 neutral it worked out very well for me. i have one pre-ordered with the heavier kuro kage and 44.75 i can only imagine what its going to be like. mind you its cold in chi-town and the range balls felt like rocks i maybe hit 25 balls and 15 of them flew past the 250 marker! was trying to miss hit some and they still flew. But the best part of this club was the pure satisfaction when you really nutted it just felt so pure

I am waiting for my club fitter to get these things in!. I went to golfsmith late at night waiting for a dinner reservation with the wife and saw the 2 versions of the driver, I love the size of the tour. I know its going to be way to low of spin for me, but I am hoping that maybe the right shaft/head combo will work, but its probably not going to be possible.

The performance version doesnt look to bad, I just like the smaller heads and such.

I got to hit both models yesterday and man did they feel great. I cant wait to pick up a tour model. The smaller head gives a nice confidence boost knowing that I can work the ball how I want off the tee. I never really get that feeling with 460cc heads.

[/quote]The covert might be 1/4 inch longer than a stock 913d3, and thats pushing it. I know the 913 is 45, so nike is definitly measuring differently than others. I will say this after playing one round with the covert tour KK 60x 11.5 deg, YOU GOT TO HIT IT ON THE COURSE. I've hit ALOT of drivers and this is a very long, high, and low spinning beast. This is in the bag and the 913d3 8.75 deg speeder 6.2x tour spec is the back up for this season. Launch monitors do not do the covert justice.

Nike covert tour is 45.75 I believe the performance is as well like I posted earlier I have a tour model pre ordered through my local pro shop at 44.75 D4 swing weight. He told me that when he called nike they said no problem with the swing weight and the length. We will see when it arrives next week!

I hit the drivers inside yesterday and outside today. It was definitely interesting playing around with head/shaft combos. I really like the looks of the performance head over the tour head. Results were interesting. I definitely hit the tour a little further, but I had a much tighter dispersion with the performance head. Working with the shop guy we tweaked the loft, lie, and shaft on the performance head and we got the same results as the tour head for distance, but still maintained the tight dispersion.

I tried both heads with the stock Kuro Kage shafts, Fujikura Fuel, & UST VTS Black. The best of the bunch for me was the performance head 10.5, right setting with the VTS Black shaft. I thought the VTS felt great. The KK Silver shaft just launched the ball with more (too much) spin for me.

I'm going back soon to compare the numbers with this combination against my VRS with a TT Project X Blue. I liked the shape of the ball flight off the Covert, but I haven't really had any issues with my current stick. Of course, since I love my golf toys, I'm sure I'll end up with a Covert regardless.

I have said before that I think that the basic concept of this driver is flawed - by taking a chunk out of the back, the total energy that is transferred to the ball is impacted negatively.

What you are referring to is COR, and that is limited by the USGA by a test known as CT. That said, I believe most here say that moving weight TOWARDS the face increases ballspeeds..
