SkyPro - really impressive

Anyone actually have testet 3gsa, swingbyte and skypro ?. There is a lot of "positive" reviews of them, but compared against eachother there is not much to find ?
I own all three (four actually if you count sb2). Honestly no bias, no clinical test, but I only use Skypro. It's the only one I feel is accurate. My opinion of course. But the fact is, ALL of these devices require you start your swing from a perfectly square club face at address before you make your swing motion. If the sensor is misaligned from that, alot of your data is off. Since skypro can be mounted in any position on the shaft, and uses club face calibration, it is the most accurate(assuming you have square face at address). The 3bays is tough to Line up perfect and does move during swings. The same goes for sb1 and sb2. SB2 was an attempt to redesign hardware so it didn't move on the shaft like SB1 did. Now it's twice as large and still moves on my clubs. And us SB1 owners still had to pay for a replacement flawed hardware of SB1.

Any easy test for accuracy of the plane is get an Pool noodle or better yet something you have to swing under to hit a ball from an in to out path. Set it up to eliminate an out to in path. Now try each device and make sure sensor is straight(sb1, sb2, & 3bays). Make sure swing starts from square club face. Now swing and observe the plane in the software for each. For me, skypro was the only one to accurately portray the plane and path. Now do the same with video, and compare. I determined the reason Skypro stayed accurate is because: the sensor just doesn't move on the shaft. It's a well designed clamp. And also it doesn't matter where the sensor is(rotationally), just as long as it doesn't move. SB1 requires sensor adjustment on each each swing as it moves and must be lined up by eye. SB2 is larger and also moves(for me) and also must be lined up by eye. The same for 3bays.

Your mileage may vary.

I'll happily sell any of you my 3bays, swingbyte 1 or swingbyte 2 for cheap. PM me if interested.

Hth..

A little concerned...showed swing speed today at 106 to 107 mphs..but still only flew to center of 255 yard green,, I think with that speed should be to the back of the range... But still good Info. ...OTT steep today..so that was spot on

106 swing speed correlates with exactly 255 yard carry
Thanks for posting,..but still unsure about these numbers,,,

Matt Kuchar is at these numbers...and that guy is very long.. He is always just shy of 300ish
There are other reasons why you might not get the same carry as Kuchar, even if the swing speeds were exactly the same. His shaft is perfectly fit for him, you were hitting range balls, etc. I think his swing speed is a little faster than 106 too.

After about 500 swings I'm even more impressed. My too inside swing is already on the way to recovery quite nicely and I'm getting a few more degrees of shaft lean at impact.

On my wishlist would be a simple way to align the club face to the target and to know club face angle at impact. How about just being able to stand behind the ball and take a picture with a bullseye at the flag or target??

Multiple groove mode combinations would be a plus.

What about a sort of live swing mode for practicing swing plane where you could see it as you swing in real time. Sort of like taking a few visual pumps then setting up for a real swing and have it recorded.

Kuchar is not carrying it 300! His swing speed is higher (110 according to the stats on pgatour.com) and his carry distance is 265.6. Combine that with his likely better fitting equipment and I would say you're doing pretty good getting 255. Don't let the occasional 300 fool you...

What is the loft on your driver CP? That can have a effect on things too. According to this with a 105mph swing speed and 11.2deg launch angle the carry would be 251yds which sounds like what you were seeing?

Also, if you are hitting range balls some are reduced distance vs. real.

So far, I notice that skypro works better on my new iPod vs iPad 4. Easier to use on the range...not as bulky carrying that iPad here and there. When I'm complete I can just email my swings over to the iPad and review at home.. I love having iPod in my pocket or laying on golf bag.. So much easier to carry around.. And the new iPad really has heating issues when taken outdoors during the summer months. I haven't used the new iPad much in outdoors.. But I now see why people complain about the over heating issues they have. Maybe new iPad 5 will correct this... What I read huge changes ahead for upcoming model
What version ipod do you have? I have the 4th gen and thought someone mentioned it may not have the processor power to run smoothly.
I use my sons IPod gen 4 and it works perfectly!

Hi Zee, sorry I don't have a definitely android date yet. But it's probably on the order of months not weeks.

For those that keep asking, this is what Gord said. If you know how software releases work then the fact that he doesn't have a date yet should tell you something. If you want something now better to look elsewhere.

Gord-

Is it possible to get face angle at top of the backswing as another checkpoint in a future update? I'd imagine that could be fairly accurate if you look at the face angle when the swing is at the slowest point ~1mph at the top?
I agree with you, face angle at the top and at or just before impact would be extremely helpful.

I saw Kuchar in Chicago...and he would bomb it by me.,,I played duds dread..and he would easily have me by 40 plus yards on every hole. My driver was custom fit,,,and I still only hit 260 max. Straight, but 260..you can still play great golf with that length ...don't get me wrong. When I saw kuchar is 108...hard to believe..he is long as any of them

Hey folks... So after a week or so of just being able to swing a club in the back yard I finally made it to the range today. Still impressed with the unit itself but I am more interested in whether or not the numbers the app says we should be looking for is correct. For instance I am constantly fighting an over the top swing plane... Most of the time I am maybe only a degree or 2 diff from the backswing, but as you know that 1* can account for a horrendous slice or a nice draw flight. So I work on coming from the inside but the alerts always are telling me that when I exaggerate the club drop at the top of my swing and come through, I am always too far inside. Plus in respect of that my swing almost always marry up back and through, (unless I'm drilling the above) so is this right or should the downswing plane be a lot lower that the backswing??? Agree if there were a few pro swings in there it would help with these queries though!?!

I'm a 14 h/c and am looking for the consistency to bring that down to single figures so any advice would be really appreciated.

As for being a Skypro stooge... Nah man, just a guy hoping to improve his golf a little!

The device itself was impressive for the 4 swings in which it actually worked for me. All of a sudden, it disconnected and when I got it to reconnect, it would not calibrate or capture swings. Their customer service technician could not solve the problem and will be sending me a warranty replacement...after owning it for 1 day. Needless to say, I will be thinking hard about keeping the replacement. My SkyCaddie died yesterday also, so I am sort of doubting the quality of this company's products.

I just got mine and took it to the range. Really liked it but when I tried the groove mode I could not get it to give an audible or vibrating warning when I was outside the parameters. Tried the website and got some idiot that could not even type English. Promised an email but I've been down that road before. Anyone who can help me?

Some observations about tempo after tonight's range session. Noticed my tempo with the driver was extremely bad, like 5.7:1. Thought that was odd since my tempo with my 7 iron was right around 4.1:1. So I started picking up the speed on my back swing on the driver. Felt really rushed at first and hit some bad shots, but got used to it after a bit. Eventually got my tempo down to where my 7 iron was, right around 4:1, and was hitting some good shots. My dispersion felt better, misses didn't seem as bad and my return angle half way down was averaging 1 degree outside rather than 5 degrees outside. Didn't gain any speed unfortunately, stayed about the same. Put the SkyPro back on my 7 iron and went to my old back swing tempo and it was right at 4:1.

Do you guys fee like your driver back swing is way faster than your 7 irons? I guess it makes sense if you think about it.

rblum22, sorry to hear you had trouble with your unit. I haven't heard of something like that before. If you do have problems with your replacement, private message me on here and I can help take care of it (I'm one of the developers).

Dreshke, I should be able to help you! There's a few possibilities. I'll private message you after this.

PotatoShooter and Sun of Golf, agreed that would be a great checkpoint. I'll put that on the list.

Thanks to everyone else for the ideas too. We're listening!

P.S. Congrats Chris!

I saw someone mention earlier that the takeaway and club face angle is dependent on setting up square to the target which is kind of a negative. I'm guessing there is no way around this using just the sensors.
Has anyone thought of Skygolf making a companion piece that is 1 foot long or so piece of plastic with a couple of sensors powered by a simple lithium battery that the device can read? You could set that next to/in place of alignment sticks (secured by tees if outdoors) to establish a measurable target line. You could then have the ability to change this from open to closed as needed to practice draws and fades and be able to measure/groove those swings. Just a thought...

I so so believe that these devices are the only way to truly judge your progress ... Cameras have too many variables in the setup.. No one will tell me differently

Without learning how to setup a camera correctly .. Good motions look bad .. I think I'm almost perfect for my intentions of hitting inside and swinging under plane
