I just chatted with a rep from another company who told me that pros have had a hard time through the years of finding hybrids that work because while they like the concept, they tend to balloon them constantly.

So, the utility iron has been more popular as people realize it's out there and are open to the concept. I'd think that is why Tiger essentially made his own with the VRS forged.

Even myself, with a slower swing speed than Tiger, find difficulty with hybrids, and fit much better into a utility type iron. It could be that nothing Nike has really works for him.

Last I knew, he was gaming the VR_S Forged 3 iron but bent to be a 2 iron. I believe his actual 3 iron would be the VR Pro blades like the rest of his set.

After a successful debut of the Nike TW’14 thanks to a victory by Tiger Woods at The Players Championship, Nike Golf officially revealed details about the Nike TW’14 today via a press release. The Free-inspired golf shoe will now feature an improved ventilation system courtesy of the new mesh tongue and perforations on the shoe and Dynamic Flywire for added stability.

Also coming to the Nike TW’14 and for the first time with any Nike Golf shoe is NIKEiD customization. Along with the usual cacophony of colors that can be found on NIKEiD, golfers will also be able to customize their TW’14 in a variety of ways including being able to choose between a waterproof or breathable upper and either a Spike or Integrated Traction option for the outsole.

The Nike TW’14 will be available in the Black/Varsity Red and White/Dark Grey colorways on June 7th while the Cool Grey/Black-Vivid Blue-Poison Green colorway will launch on August 1st for $180.00 each. Those who want to go with the NIKEiD option will be able to preview the TW’14 on May 20th and then buy it on June 7th for $225.00.

+2 from me... I think Tiger wins the US Open going away. The way he's been putting lately, which in my opinion is his great equalizer and truly the thing that was missing in his struggles for those couple years will be the reason for it. Even when he was winning in the Haney era he hit bad shots but he made everything... for pars after bad swings and seemed to always convert birdies. Not to mention how well hes been hitting the fairway woods, irons and wedge play- I say he wins at Merion by 5-8 shots. I will say he's gonna win 3 of the next 7 majors and by The Masters in 2015 he'll need one more to tie Jack.
