I am steadily becoming a super fan of the new TR series. My Senita TR is money, the distance control with the new face insert is almost unfair. I've played plenty of Ping putters with the Anser #4 Milled being my fave before playing the Scottsdale TR.

My all time favorite is the first putter I bought with my own money. The Manganese Bronze Ping Anser 3. I've tried and own other putters, but "Old Trusty" still goes in the bag most of the time. I've added a little bit of lead tape to the sole over the years and just regripped with a Superstroke MidSlim. Most of the time it runs with a white letter Pingman. It's the best putter ever made, but that's just me.[attachment=1656943:IMG_0164.jpg]

What do the ZIP Code's mean on the PING Putters?

They are Phoenix area zip codes. 85029 is the zip code for the current main factory. They also have another building near south mountain in phoenix so that might be where 85020 comes from

Ping zip codes might indicate the age of the putter. For instance, the 85020 zip code was used in the very late 60s to early 70s. Freddie Couples used an 85020 Ping Anser in his early days on tour, including when we won the Masters in 1992. I like the feel of the MgBr from that era as compared to later castings. These, at least to me, tend to feel a bit softer. Maybe it is a head case thing but .....

That the molten steel reacts differently depending on the zip code and year they were cast. The theory is that that the earlier the putter was cast and the older the location of the shop results in a better feeling putter. At least that is the legend.
