Looks great. Would look 10x better if you remove the weeds and native in and around the water so you can actually see the green and bunker. Remove all that and put a solid edge on that pond and it reminds me of shadow creek.

The view from the tees is actually above that so the view isn’t really distracted by the ‘rough’ stuff. The course is a mid-range ski and golf resort kind of in the middle of nowhere. For what it is, it’s very well maintained.

I wonder if the course purposely keeps the fescue/high rough parts dry.  I could easily be fooled as a course in Sothern California

100% intentional.  Called "Gunch" locally.   When they get a lot of rain it is unplayable and with no water on the course it can play like a "water hazzard".   *there is water on 11 but if if you hit it, might be best to just cal it a day LOL

the "gunch" can get soooo bad you can watch your ball roll in, walk right where it went in and not find it but you might find 3 others  🤣

Awesome course, but never understood that place. If those were our conditions we would be fired within 1 minute. Good for them.

As odd as it sounds they do keep it "rough" along the edges intentionally and your right in todays age of "perfect" conditioned courses many would have issues.

Though it is just the edges in areas that are rough at times, the rest is typically in fantastic shape. The fecuse (gunch) is part the original design so will always be how it was intended to play.

Oh wow, it's been a while since I visited/posted on here. Some great photos and I hope everyone is playing well.

Here's a small selection from Woodhall Spa taken August 2022 after a brutally (and unusually) hot summer here in England. Course was absolutely superb. The only green patches on the course were the tees and greens. It was playing very hard and fast. Bunkers were like nothing else, my dad looks tiny in the last post!

That brown looks sublime.  When I was in England in September a few years ago it was cold and rainy almost every day.  Really want to play Woodhall.

It was absolutely brilliant. If you make a return trip try and play it. It's such a great inland course. Their second course, the Bracken is also worth playing. Despite being part of the same real estate, the land on which they're built is completely different. The Hotchkin on a sandy base, the Bracken on a clay base. The green complexes are hugely different also. Bracken more akin to the American parkland with large undulating greens, Hotchkin a lot more subtle. Both pure and worthy of a trip.

Would absolutely love to golf that area of England.  Always wanted to play Ganton and the English MacKenzie courses as well.

I played Ganton a few years ago with my dad. Tough course, and recall deep bunkers!

My home course is actually a MacKenzie course. Not one of his better known ones but it's a small claim to fame! It's Bolton Old Links. A moorland course in North West England.

Fun time at work last night. One of our regular leagues was having a Hawaiian themed scramble and we got permission to dress for them. They truly got a huge kick out of it. The other leagues were chuckling at the fun attire. White Lake Oaks in Michigan is a pretty nice county course!  Greens run true and most fairways are tight.

Sorry Jonny we could not fit you (ie BOL) in to our trip in September. Playing Ganton, Alwoodley, Delamere Forest, then Cavendish befor heading further south. Staying and eating at The Legh Arms. Hopefully its good beer and tucker.

Lol. Should have let me know you have an awesome Hawaiian shirt. I have at least six in my RV's closet, and haven't had an excuse to dig one out.

There’s five souvenirs in my closet from Maui last December and who needs an excuse to wear them?  I rotate thru them on my weekly scrambles.  😁

Boulder Pointe Peaks course, Oxford, MI

4th hole, a par 3 severely downhill @120 yards.  First time around this course, could only finish 15 holes due to late start and darkness.

NOT a walking friendly layout running thru a neighborhood.  Many long rides between greens and next tee.  Glad I left the Clicgear at home.
