The one's that fit your swing. Nobody is qualified to make that decision with the information you provided.

Since I'm sure it's coming anyway, your best option is to get fit by a reputable club fitter and/or PGA professional.

Ping G series, Mizuno JPX, Adams has many, TM SpeedBlade or Rocketbladez. Callaway XHot, Cobra AMP... You are in the majority group who most game improvement irons are marketed to. Many options. Also some great deals if you like some of "last years styles" as this group is the most frequently released. Find one that looks good, feels good and get properly fitted and you can't go wrong. Biggest advice is listen to your fitter and leave your ego at the door when it comes to shafts-- play what fits you best, not what you think will impress. More impressive to see someone having fun, and shooting good scores with a "lesser shaft" than seeing someone in pain and struggling with too heavy/stiff shafts.

Edit: grab a few lessons with the new irons as well.. Might as well work out some bad habits while adjusting to the clubs (won't hurt to do this before you get fitted as well-- always best to be fitted when you are hitting good than to be fitted to correct a flaw that is easy to fix. Also no shame in rescheduling a fitting if you are hitting bad that day - easier to fit when you are hitting well.

Something along the lines of the Ping G series.
Most manufacturers have models for that target market.
The "best" is subjective, obviously. Go to a shop and demo a few.

No such thing as "best".
Trail and error. Because if your a golf novice finding the clubs that fit your personality is truly a matter of personal choice.
Almost as bad as asking your friends; "Which girl is best for me."

If you are a decent ball striker try the i10 - some offset, relatively forgiving and they will drop your handicap down to scratch no problem (if your good enough!!!)
[/quote]

Interesting. Everything I've ever heard/read about i10's is that they are among the worst PINGs ever produced. Why would you recommend them over the i15's or i20's?

I play the i10's. They aren't the "worst" clubs, I'd rather say they are not very forgiving at all. Don't even think about a bad swing or that ball is going no where near where you want it to. I'll admit that I don't play them all the time, since they are the toughest i series to hit. I play the G10's, the most, then i10's and S58's. Even the S58's are easier to hit then the i10's.

And to the other poster above, the club does NOT drop you to scratch. You drop you to scratch. Any club, be it a blade, a cavity back or a G series shovel can be used to scratch. I've scored plenty of times in the 60's with G10 "shovels".

go get fit.

im a 15 and play TM Muscle Cavity with X100s (not exactly what a mid/high handicap would be picking off the shelf). There's so much out there, and getting a fitting can open your eyes to a bunch of different models that you would not even think of playing

TM R11TP Rip Alpha 60X
Ping i20 15* wood TFC707 X
TM RBZTP 17.5* Rul 80X
TM MC TP 3-PW w/ DG X100
TM ATV 54*, Vokey 60*
Bettinardi BB1 with Superstroke Mid

It really doesn't matter what you get, in the end you'll end up switching around.

Currently I own and enjoy playing any of 3 sets:

Ping G25
Nike Machspeed
TM TP CB

The playing differences between them came down to things that only come out in long term use and are very player-specific.

Under tournament conditions I am partial to G25s though.

TM SIM Max 10.5* Atmos Blue 65S
TM M3 3W Matrix Ozik HD6 S

TM M4 Rescue 3
TM M3 Rescue 5

Srixon 565 5-P PX LZ 5.5
PING Glide 52*SS 58*WS 60*TS
Odyssey #9 O-Works

With that handicap, you're close to playing the gamer irons if you're not already playing them. Some quality gi's would be an option as well. I wouldn't think you would need the max gi types, though.

The shaft you choose is important, too. That's based on swing speed and what weight you prefer to feel.

There's nothing in the rule book that says you can't play drunk.

Only reccommend them because they can now be found cheap and are good value, however, i20's are far superior if cash is no problem

I personally think that AP1's fit a whole range of players, but I think that the more important question is what shaft do you need to get your best results.

Lighter goes farther, heavier is more consistent.

By the way, how strong are you?

How much are you gong to practice?

I am a big fan of the Nippon 105T shaft that was stock in the 710 AP1's, because they feel Nippon good, and they are easy to hit, and they help me hit the ball a little higher and a little farther. That's good for me, and helps me to be more consistent. I have them in the 712's and am going to get them in the 714's.

I've tried Steelfiber i95's in regular, and I just don't seem to time them consistently, and certainly not as consistently as the Nippons.

Because I am over 60 and I like to practice a lot, I get some tendon issues from time to time, and so graphite looks appealing. But, as of yet, I haven't found one that works quite as well for me as the Nippons.

I think that when you zero in on shaft, you will find a bunch of different heads that work. The AP1's certainly look good, they help my mis-hits, and they go a bit farther. I know, I also have some AP2's and cb's which I like to hit in practice and play every once in awhile. But the AP1's are my favorites, because they work a little better.

Focus on shafts. Shaft weight, kick points and how they weight with a given head. Every OEM makes good GI clubs.

Another idea is just buy what excites you the most. That may motivate you to practice and play and hit your new toys well.
