They all do very similar things with subtle variations in feel. Personally, I kind of like the B330s and Z-Star XV as alternatives to V1x. Still pretty partial to Titleist, however.

I tried almost all the new balls last year, just to mix it up.

I ended up really liking the rzn platinum.

Great ball (black isn't bad either)

I loved the Chrome last year and am looking forward to playing the Chrome Soft this season. I miss the Top-Flite Gamer before the brand was sold to Dicks, and I have also never had complaints about Bridgestone's e5 or e6 balls.

I was a long time V1X player for quite a while and then tried branching out a little bit, starting with the TM TP5. Excellent ball, Lethal was supposedly better, but I never tried it. The new TP series balls from TM are top notch as well, played a handful of rounds with them last year.

I played the Chrome+ for the great majority this past year, and tried the Chrome Soft towards the end. Performance for all of them is close to the same, but nothing (to me) feels as good as the ProV1/X. Something about it just always felt the best. Maybe it was because I used it for so long, I'm not sure. But...the Chrome Soft brings back that balata feel, but acts like a Tour ball. It really is a great choice. Most of those low compression balls I always had trouble with distance control from short approach distances, like 85-110. That's usually a strength of mine, and I was going past target by 10-15 yards sometimes with something like the Wilson Duo or SuperSoft (which I didn't like at all). You could CRUSH it off the tee if you caught it right, but it seemed to lack the control on approach shots for me.

Z Stars are hard to beat at the prices you can get them for.

Chrome + is a great ball at $25 or so.

I would say skip these though. You don't want to be that guy: http://srixon.com/golfballs/duck-dynasty/

2015 balls only:

Best ball regardless of price? Probably the 2015 ProV1x.

Best performace/price value? Probably the Chrome Soft.

Duo Spin. Three piece ball, still supposed to be very soft. Still January though, so for now we wait.

No way I switch from the TM Tour Preferred X, just an all around great ball.

+1

Was able to take advantage of the sale at Sports Authority earlier in the month, bought 12 dozen without ever playing the ball.

Was a diehard Z-Star XV user until I tried the TPX.

-1. I hated the Tour Preferred X. Love the Srixon XV. Either you guys are smoking something wacky or I am?
