Spikeless Shoes

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this should go here or the "style and accessories" forum. I would say golf shoes are part of the equipment...

Anyhow - I have pretty much worn out my favorite pair of spikeless shoes - a pair of True Linkswear Phx that I got on clearance almost 2 years ago.

I know there are a lot of various spikeless shoes out there - could anyone recommend what would be similar to the True Phx's?

Or what your favorite pair are?

I strictly walk and only typically play in good/dry conditions.

My favorite ones (and i exclusively use "spikeless" shoes) is the type used on models like the Adidas Street. They are small studs , but not so small that they wear out too fast , or too wide that you get limited traction.

I have a first gen pair of Adidas that i've used for 3 years now off and on and they still have good tread.

I owned a pair of Pumas that had tiny studs, and they wore out in like 25 rounds. And i have a pair of Footjoys where the studs are too wide and you get no traction

As bladehunter says, the Ecco Biom is great if you have a high arch. Adidas street shoes or Footjoys are better if you don't have a high arch. If you prefer softer leather, go for Footjoy Contour Casuals - only negative is that the soles wear out quicker. Footboy Contour Casuals seem the best overall combo to me, durability balanced by lower price than Ecco's and good for work/office and golf. That said, I like all of the above.

I have many pairs of golf shoes, but I only now wear 1 pair, Ecco Biom Hybrid 2. I will not own another brand of shoes, they are so comfortable. I see no slipping problem, but if you slip in spineless shoes, you have poor balance or swinging to hard.

I have a pair of the Oakley Cypher 2's. Pretty minimalistic, I find them comfortable, but those that need a lot of support would probably hate these.

They happened to have them on clearance. They had my size - and a 8.5.

I rotate three pairs, Bioms, Biom Hybrid, and Nike F1 Impact, depending on how much grip I need/want. The Nike's are the most comfortable shoe I've had. The newer F1 Impact 2 also should provide better grip than the original which was the only problem. If they fit your feet, they're worth a try, plus they won't break the bank like Eccos.

I'm a True Tour guy and bought a pair of the canvas Lunar Swingtips...mainly because they can be had on the cheap off ebay. They have been a pleasant surprise. Not quite as comfortable as the Trues but for 45 bucks I have 0 complaints, plenty of toe box room for me. Not a super high end shoe but after the soles wears out they'll be perfect for backyard parties or bump'n around.
