Who knows about this for golf? Price? Looks very interesting to me

I agree v interesting especially if $500 as I've heard

Ballspeed, spin and launch are all you need for accurate carry (as long as your spin axis isn't crazy)

Very easy to take this on course and test in real world and see how this environment affects your numbers

A real competition to Skytrak methinks, especially with the Xi being withdrawn

I mentioned this in the PGA show thread because a lot of people wanted this category covered badly. I saw this new product at the CES show in Vegas. It was the only product they were showing there and funny enough, there was no mention of it at their booth this week at the PGA show. I did however talk to them about it and make sure it was not confidential. They are just waiting for its launch in March.

Note: it does mention you need to use a metallic dot to read spin rates. I asked and they are a little sticky dot and they will come in a roll of 1000 for $25. So this will still be practical for range sessions. For those complaining about this just remember it's only $500.

i wonder how carry distance is calculated? maybe and algorithm of balls speed to a given loft i.e. 7 iron?

definitely interested but id want to see how the calculations are made and how this compares in accuracy to a higher end model

I'd love to see a comparison between this and the ES14 Pro. Same price range. ES14 Pro measures spin and doesn't require the metallic dots, so that could save money in the long run I suppose.

I have seen mixed reveiws on the ES14 Pro though, so maybe this will be more accurate and thus more worth it. A personal launch monitor in this price range is something I'd really like to add to my practice.

I partially agree, but mostly disagree. I think the target market is completely different.

In my opinion (but not extremely educated since the product isn't even out yet), this will be more outdoor (driving range) use to get you're numbers as a true portable launch monitor for your average joe.

I haven't read a ton into skytrak, but I know enough to be dangerous. And to me, skytrak is more of a cheap way to get an indoor simulator set up.

I think that will be biggest differnce. Range tool Vs indoor sim. Both affordable.

pretty sure it means you have to put a little metallic doc sticker on the ball before hitting for it to accurately measure spin rate, not sure about if its needed outside. Other flightscopes you do this as well for more accuracy indoors I believe?

I looked for the longest time to get one of the FS Xi units (which was and still is a great tool) but it remained just outside of my budget since I only planned on using personally and not sharing it with friends or renting it out.

This MEVO is exactly what I want. something that I can take to the range or for a late evening 9 holes and get some nice data of what the ball is doing. and for $500 id be a happy guy

Basic radar-based systems can only measure ball and club speed. Everything else is calculated. I want this to be great, just like I wanted the ES14 to be great, but there's too much going on that can't be accounted for in even the best calculations.

What I REALLY want to see is an affordable multi-sensor-type system that incorporates 2 or 3 types of measurement sensors... something like SkyTrak (ball speed, spin, launch angle) + P3Pro (club speed, club path, face angle) + Radar(ball speed, club speed) in the ~$2500-$3000 range could seemingly pull together several of these systems into an affordable package that could also offer more reliable measurement-based data with less variables, less calculation, and even some redundancy for sanity checks.

Super excited! I wanted the ES14 when it came out but held off because of the reviews of its accuracy. Anyone know the exact price? Any special pricing for pre-ordering?

Yeah, but we see that the individual hardware components can be manufactured and sold relatively inexpensively... it seems taking something like SkyTrack and adding an optional radar add-on and then averaging the ball speed data and integrating the club speed data wouldn't be all that difficult. It seems that, at the low end, everyone focuses on a single type of measurement and tries to calculate what it doesn't capture instead of integrating an additional off-the-shelf sensor that could do the job better than their algorithm.
