Who is using an old school putter?

Recently acquired a Spalding Touring Pro Model 1 and love the way it looks, feels, and rolls. Thinking about getting it refurbed, tuned up, and out on the course.

Is anyone gaming an old school putter? I'd like to limit it to those released before 1990.

Nice find, it would definitely look sweet refinished. I’ve got two old Spalding putters that I use sometimes, they’re nice putters. image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I have a friend who is 76. He is using his father's putter, which he purchased in 1946. A bullseye...70+ year old putter and still going strong.

I have a Ping Anser and Ping A Blade and Ping My Day in the rotation and just got a Cleveland Classic 8802 like model to place

in the rotation. Yep, a ho, but have 15 in the rotation and many more backup.

I'm using a Cleveland Designed By Ben Crenshaw. I bought a "raw head", used a shaft from another old putter I have and put on a Scotty Cameron grip. The carbon steel head coupled with the stepped shaft has a nice feel. It has developed a nice patina with just a little bit of rust.

I often game my Ping Eye 2 Black Dot Copper Berylliums - they are my back up set and whenever I do, I throw some sort of vintage 8802 style blade in the bag. Never seems to hurt my putting either to be honest.

I can putt with my BeCu Anser 2 almost as good as anything new.

The only thing that throws me off a bit is it has more than a full shaft of offset. Takes some adjustment.

I play with quite a few old school 8802 variants, including a Spalding TPM 7.

Here's my Spalding "set", only really gamed the 7 recently.

    IMG_2142.jpg

I also until about 3 month ago regularly played one of my two Old Master W802's. One is original condition, one is refurbed / polished.

    IMG_1190.jpg

I also have multiple Wilson 8802/8813 types. They only come out occasionally.

The MacGregor VIP in this pic is a beauty to play (and I often do).

The Cobra CNC is a gamer as well.

Other old putters I've got but just don't get to play are an original Ping Anser and a Ping Blade.

OMG, would you accept a 21 yr old stepson as payment for that copper 8802? He's a little lazy, but responds to food and whipping....

About 5 yrs ago I found a near mint 8802, original leather grip still tacky. Putted lights out with it. One round chipped in on #18 and didn't notice it missing until a week later....no one turned it in. I was almost as heartbroken as when my dog passed...

That is simply awesome. I wish there were other variants of the original TP Mills 1 and TPM 3. I know Scotty made some but none that have the minimal offset the TPM line had.

Every putter I own and use is pre 1990. Currently using a 5 buck Ping Pal 2 I bought a couple months from a guy who I was buying some balls from. Most consistent putter Ive owned to be honest.

Yes, the same Scottsdale molds were used to produce the Karsten Co Anser.
