PGATour 3rd round cuts....??

In a regular tour event, the cut is low 70 and ties. If that results in more than 78 players, there’s a second cut after the third round that takes it down to 70 and ties. I think it’s just a matter of getting the field to a manageable size so that it gives them the best chance of getting the tournament finished on Sunday. The tour hates a Monday finish.

What? The secondary cut is a result of too many players making the 36 hole cut. The goal is not to add more players on top of that. This is a bizarre response to the question posed.

But don't you want to keep the field strong. Cutting all those guys weakens the field. Now you only have to beat 69 guys. (TIC)

Why not just give everyone a trophy on Wednesday night and skip the actual competition part?

Make the 2nd round cut more extreme then. These tournaments... you’ve got all day to play the rounds of golf. The only reasons they run out of time on Sunday is because they get too greedy and tee off too late, or weather. One of those obstacles can be remedied pretty easily.

Would you make up your mind? You wanted more players a few posts ago and now you want less? Are you just suggesting change because you don’t understand the item to begin with?

The players caved after years of resisting pressure from the PGA Tour hierarchy.

No. The player gets 1 check just like everybody else that made the cut.

You get paid for making the cut, if you have a MDF designation after not making a secondary cut Saturday, you still get paid and get the ever popular FedEx points for making the cut, you just get an extra day for travel.

This is relieving to know... I was going to make a GoFundMe for the secondary cut players, but now I don't have to.
