20 min fromDisney end of August courses.....

Got passes for StarWars opening at Disney on the 29th, can't refuse that!

Want to play 3 days, no more than 15-20 min drive from Grand Floridian resort.

Falcon's Fire, only because I drive past it everytime we come up and it looks nice. Richie Hunt says it's usually a 5 hr round, but end of August?

Championsgate CC?

OCN?

Celebration?

it will be 5 hour rounds everywhere, plan for it.

All those you listed will be fine, just watch for rain prior to the rounds as FF and celebration dont drain well.

IMO Championsgate National/Intl are nice courses, even though many here harp on the CC course. If you can do more than just the CC, and you dont wanna drive to OCN - I would recommend them.

All of your choices are worthy of consideration. It’s hard to make a bad choice anywhere near Disney. However, your 15-20 minute drive time requirement may be problematic. I-4, 192 and 27 are typically very crowded, especially I-4 which can be backed up for miles. Plan your routes to include the back way out of Disney and/or Western Way & plan for more windshield time.

For what it's worth the Disney courses are actually pretty good tracks and a lot of fun to play. They have a great deal that I always take advantage of in the mornings called the "Sunrise 9", which I've linked below:

https://www.golfwdw.com/specials/sunrise-9

I've played on several occasions using this deal and never seen another person on the whole course (they start you out on the 9 opposite public play). Also, consider playing Winter Park GC - awesome track, awesome people.

20 minutes from Grand Floridian? OCN, Celebration, or the Disney courses would be your best bets. If you can make it 30 minutes I always enjoyed the Watson course at Reunion but haven't played it in 5-6 years.

I have not played it but have heard really good things about the Waldorf Astoria golf course nearby as well.

Im not sure why it would be 5 hour rounds everywhere. There's a reason prices drop in the summer. Five hour rounds would be 180 degrees from what I experienced in 10 years in the business in that area in the summer. Also it might feel like 180 degrees which is why you won't see a bunch of long rounds except MAYBE in the most popular courses if the staff isn't paying attention. Got out early, play fast and prepare to sweat.

OCN, Disney, Grand Cypress are all good and near the Grand Floridian. I played Falcon's Fire a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty nice.

Avoid I-4 if you can. It's usually backed up somewhere between Disney and Champions Gate. Good luck and have fun.

I got on I-4 yesterday wb at exit 68. EB traffic was stopped. I got off exit 41. Traffic was still stopped. You do the arithmetic.

Looks like we're going to do OCN and Grand Cypress. Will be taking the back roads, so I4 traffic won't be a problem.

I've played all the Disney courses for years and was getting bored with the same ones so we decided to go off property. Sure miss the old Osprey Ridge course that the Four Seasons took over.

Might still try Falcon's Fire.

Thanks for the suggestions.

  • 3 weeks later...

OCN and Grand Cypress are good calls. Played Celebration a few weeks ago and conditions were a little rough and layout wasn't impressive. If you have time and want to add another course, Reunion (I played Watson) was enjoyable and I'd go back.

Hawk's Landing is as close as you can get and its a fine course. Nice greens, great service. Lots of tourists so always a new face on vacation having fun.

Celebration is good, tight, can be wet, doesn't drain well. Locals feel like its there private CC and take forever marking 2foot putts for their money games.

Falcon's Fire is good. wider fairways, easier, nice facility. Some douchey clientele sometimes.

I may be at Galaxy's Edge opening day to see the madness and try to buy some collector merch to flip. Should be a mad house.
