It's all about Gambling for me...

I think that one of the reason the PGA Tour simplified things is for sports betting, so I put a little cash that Justin Thomas will be caught by the end of the first round. I put a little down on Jon Rahm leading at the end of the second round and my long shots are Chez Reavie and Lucas Glover. Have I wasted my hard earned cash$$$ ?

My reasoning:

1 -Justin Thomas will struggle with the lead in the beginning because he just won.

2-Rory is not a good starter.

3-Jon Rahm can light it up starting a tournament.

4-Lucas Glover plays well without pressure

5-Chez Reavie is just one of my favorite Golfer....LOL!

6-Brooks Koepka will win if he's interested.

I think it's because you used the "#" character before the numbers in your list.

If your suspicion is correct and the PGA Tour have done this with one eye on sports betting then it's beyond sad. I'm not convinced I think its just to give Fed Ex the best finale it can for its enormous investment.

Oh I agree FedEx and The PGA Tour make great partners because the both are global businesses. Make no mistake about it sports betting is huge, FedEx can go away today or tomorrow and the season ending tournament can be called the UPS cup.....LOL!

As someone who wagers (very small amounts) weekly on the PGA tour, it is like setting dollar bills on fire. The only way to win is to have a stable of players and bet them EVERY week...and even then, unless you're players outperform that year, you will be a NET loser.

I read somewhere that, on draft kings and online poker, 93% of participants are losers.

That sounds about right.

Brent, I'm telling you there's a lot of action coming in on the east coast for Koepka. They think he might really care this week.

The overseas money is always on Rory, but a couple of people I talked to say don't sleep on Rose.

I'm putting the longshot money on the local guy, Matt Kuchar. They love him in Georgia.

I also like the Bears over the Colts in the preseason game tomorrow Brent. It'll be all backups playing my sources tell me.

You seem fun. Do you invest in the stock market? You do realize everything is a wager, irregardless if money is involved? Getting in your car and driving to work places a wager that the money you spent on tires puts you in a better (or worse) position to not have a flat....

I'm not advocating gambling, but your statement seems far too strict.

Actually, you ARE advocating gambling. Those strawman examples are literally THE DEFINITION of a gamblers excuses that they use to justify their habits.

wElL dO yOu hAvE stoCks!? lol really...everyone takes RISKS in life, but not everyone who takes risks is a GAMBLER. Common misconception but I guess we can play semantics all day long...

When I play golf I want to play golf with people who enjoy the game and enjoy the outdoors, not who purely enjoy making money.

Thanks for enriching us all with your feelings and opinion that people who prefer to gamble are fools. Play golf with whomever you care to, but try to refrain from grouping people who enjoy gambling fools.

I might be wrong, but I didn't state a straw man defense, what I presented is much closer to an analogy.

Relax, you're taking my comments way too seriously. I'll throw in a few emojis next time to lighten the mood.

Nothing wrong with your approach and being outdoors is ONE of the pleasures I get from golf. I also enjoy competition. What do you think of people who play in club level and other amateur tournaments? What do you think is the best way to prep for the pressure most feel in these events?

Interesting. I dont play with people who aren't willing to lay a little action down!

(And although I'll readily bet on myself in golf or poker, I generally don't bet on sports, casinos, or the lottery)
